In an election rally, while campaigning for the Maharashtra District Council elections in Solapur district, BJP supported independent Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Prashant Paricharak made a controversial comment regarding soldiers serving in the line of duty.
The approximate translation of his speech is as follows:
“Soldier is at border, his wife gets pregnant at home. He get a letter than you are a Dad and a son is born. He hasn’t gone home since a year (audience laughs). Soldier distributes sweets. Other soldiers ask, what happened? He says, I have a son. That is the way Politics is”
This statement suggesting that army wives get pregnant in absence of their partners created a huge outrage on social media and the MLC had to apologise for his statement.
