not be a real hostage situation.<\/p>\n<p>1) At the 0:48 mark, we see a masked man is speaking with a hostage. Both men have mics. In fact, the former is holding a notepad (possibly the script). He confirmed that the video is staged and said the logo on the top left belongs to a channel called &#8216;Afghan International&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Alt News found that YouTube channel Afghan International had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1UhKnrz1MtU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">uploaded<\/a> this video in September 2019. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/06\/01\/world\/asia\/01jalrez.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>, a part of Jalrez is made up of Pashtun, the ethnic group most closely associated with the Taliban.<\/p>\n<p>Gandhara, an English language news outlet covering stories from Afghanistan and Pakistan, <a href=\"https:\/\/gandhara.rferl.org\/a\/taliban-strategic-military-gains-afghanistan-\/31284934.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that the Taliban seized control of Jalrez in May<\/p>\n<p>A 2019 video of a street play in Afghanistan&#8217;s Jalrez district is being shared as the Taliban shooting Afghani people in the backdrop of the recent takeover. The video was also fact-checked by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boomlive.in\/fact-check\/no-this-video-does-not-show-taliban-publicly-executing-afghans-14363\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boomlive<\/a>.
