Facebook news page <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=846523812713888\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KohramLive<\/a>, with about one lakh followers, posted the video with the caption, &#8220;OMG! Had to bring a JCB to capture such a huge snake&#8230;&#8221; [\u0907\u0924\u0928\u093e \u092c\u095c\u093e \u0938\u093e\u0902\u092a, \u0909\u0920\u093e\u0928\u0947 \u0915\u0947 \u0932\u093f\u090f \u0932\u0917\u093e\u0928\u093e \u092a\u095c\u093e JCB\u2026] on October 17. The video gained over two million views.<\/p>\n<p>The video was also shared by News18 Virals on YouTube on the same day with the claim that it is from Jharkhand&#8217;s Dhanbad region. href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/nextfuckinglevel\/comments\/q8ghzy\/a_giant_python_was_found_in_indonesia\/\">Indonesia<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/terrese.heronvanta\/videos\/586405886128019\/\">Dominica<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atribuna.com.br\/cidades\/praiagrande\/cobra-gigante-teria-sido-encontrada-em-praia-grande-prefeitura-esclarece\">Brazil<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On October 12, Ecuador-based Facebook page <a href=\"https:\/\/fb.watch\/8PRblqJQaf\/\">Amazon\u00eda Informa<\/a> also uploaded the video but without offering context. A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/terrese.heronvanta\/videos\/586405886128019\/\">Facebook user<\/a> claimed it is from Dominica, an island nation in the Caribbean Sea. A few days later, around October 20, UK-based news outlets <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2021\/10\/22\/worlds-biggest-snake-lifted-by-crane-from-dominican-rainforest-15467187\/\">Metro<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/16482130\/snake-huge-world-biggest-dominica\/\">Sun<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/10\/21\/worlds-biggest-snake-lifted-by-crane-in-caribbean-forest\/\">New York Post<\/a> from the US published reports claiming the video is from <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/10\/21\/worlds-biggest-snake-lifted-by-crane-in-caribbean-forest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dominica<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On October 20, Brazil-based newspaper &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.atribuna.com.br\/cidades\/praiagrande\/cobra-gigante-teria-sido-encontrada-em-praia-grande-prefeitura-esclarece\">A Tribuna<\/a>&#8216; reported that the video was circulating among internet users in Baixada Santista, a metropolitan area located in S\u00e3o Paulo. But the authorities denied it was from the area. Alt News accessed TikTok using a VPN since it&#8217;s banned in India and found that multiple users had posted this video around October 11 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@unikbanget7\/video\/7017663612428897563?is_from_webapp=v1&amp;q=ular%20sawa%20di%20bukit%20dulang%20gual%20Ipoh..%20besar%20boh&amp;t=1634886828460\">1<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@dhamburi_maqqas\/video\/7017613462452915482?is_from_webapp=v1&amp;q=ular%20sawa%20di%20bukit%20dulang%20gual%20Ipoh..%20besar%20boh&amp;t=1634886828460\">2<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@fakhruraziadnan\/video\/7017712858490342683?is_from_webapp=v1&amp;q=ular%20sawa%20di%20bukit%20dulang%20gual%20Ipoh..%20besar%20boh&amp;t=1634886828460\">3<\/a>) along with a caption in Malay, an Austronesian language spoken in Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore and unofficially spoken in East Timor and parts of Thailand. User <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@fakrulazwa\/video\/7017483286557625627\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fakrulazawa<\/a> posted a video on October 10, the earliest iteration of the viral video that we found. It gained over 5 million likes. On October 23 the account became inaccessible; presumably deleted.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-105671 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/10\/Screenshot-2021-10-22-at-12.50.21-1-e1634898650746.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"936\" height=\"1197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/10\/Screenshot-2021-10-22-at-12.50.21-1-e1634898650746.jpg 936w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/10\/Screenshot-2021-10-22-at-12.50.21-1-e1634898650746-235x300.jpg 235w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/10\/Screenshot-2021-10-22-at-12.50.21-1-e1634898650746-801x1024.jpg 801w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2021\/10\/Screenshot-2021-10-22-at-12.50.21-1-e1634898650746-768x982.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 936px) 100vw, 936px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We also noticed that @fakrulazwa had uploaded a longer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@fakrulazwa\/video\/7018125102499810586\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one-minute video<\/a> of the same incident. It showed the men from viral video transferring the snake from a cage to a car with the number plate DAG 3733. The account was taken down before we could take a screenshot. We spoke with 33-year old Mohd Shahrul Effendy, a resident of the Malayasian state Negeri Sembilan. He is an employee at the country&#8217;s Ministry of Works. He informed, &#8220;At the 12-second mark, the phrase &#8220;kemana itu&#8221; in Indonesian which translates to &#8220;where to go&#8221; in English can be heard. Tanah Merah area is known to have many Indonesian nationals living and working in the forest near Kelantan. The person in the video seems to be reacting to the snake trying to look for a way out while trapped between the jaws of the crane.&#8221; Referring to the longer video by Harina Semasa, he said, &#8220;In this video, Malaysian dialect can also be heard.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Upon asking about the vehicle registration, Effendy added, &#8220;DAG 3733 is a cent per cent from Kelantan state in Malaysia,&#8221; adding that number plates registered in Kelantan begin with &#8216;D&#8217;. We checked the latest vehicle registration number in the state (as of October 25, 2021) on the official portal of the road transport department of Malaysia and found that it began with a &#8216;D&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, the video was shared on social media globally with various claims about its location. Our research points that the video was most likely shot in Kelantan, Malaysia.
