This is Break Up India politics under garb of religious freedom! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GtjyZnaUMj\">https:\/\/t.co\/GtjyZnaUMj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 MadhuPurnima Kishwar (@madhukishwar) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/madhukishwar\/status\/1003623143800373248?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 4, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Kishwar was recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/jk-police-pulls-up-madhu-kishwar-for-sharing-fake-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pulled up by the Jammu and Kashmir police<\/a> for circulating the fake news that\u00a0the DG of J&amp;K suspended the SP who killed Burhan Wani in an encounter.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple pages and individual users have shared the video on Facebook in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"540\" height=\"541\" class=\"wp-image-13884\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/06\/word-image-2.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/06\/word-image-2.png 540w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/06\/word-image-2-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/06\/word-image-2-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/06\/word-image-2-419x420.png 419w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Video dates back to September 2017<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Members of a newly emerging sect of Christianity in the north-eastern state of Mizoram had, in fact, burned a Hindu idol and set ablaze the tricolour, but the incident took place in 2017.<\/p>\n<p><em>Firstpost <\/em>had\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstpost.com\/india\/in-mizoram-fringe-sect-burns-hindu-idols-tricolour-in-bid-to-fray-tempers-4096481.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported the incident last year<\/a> on September 30. <em>\u201cThis incident comes to light at a time when the rise of Hindu nationalism has caused a number of incidents of communal violence across India,\u201d<\/em> the report said.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred on September 21, 2017, at Lunglei district in Mizoram. A man in a white robe, apparently a self-styled preacher of Christianity, can be seen in the video amidst men in traditional Mizo attire. The group can be heard chanting slogans against Hinduism and India. All the seven men were identified by the state police.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by<em> Firstpost<\/em>, this sect of Christianity which has no name attributed to itself wants independence from the country.<\/p>\n<p>Although Mizoram is a Christian majority state, this new sect is seen as extremist and a threat to peace by the community which accounts for 87% of the population.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Church condemned and denounced the incident <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Catholic Church had strongly condemned the act, terming it <em>&#8220;fundamentalism&#8221;<\/em>.
