They claimed Harish married a Muslim woman whose brothers later murdered him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Right Wing propaganda outlet <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/D6vZp\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">OpIndia<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> published an article claiming that a young man named Harish was murdered by his Muslim wife\u2019s brothers in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana. (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/43XfG\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Archived link<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/Screenshot-2023-03-06-143251.jpg?resize=794%2C928&amp;ssl=1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sagar Kumar of Sudarshan News, who frequently shares misinformation on social media, tweeted a picture of the deceased, Harish, claiming that he was killed by his in-laws for marrying a Muslim woman. (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/RXBCd\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Archived link<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/Screenshot-2023-03-06-143341.jpg?resize=794%2C848&amp;ssl=1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Abhay Pratap Singh, also affiliated with Sudarshan News, made the same claim while tweeting the image. (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/ENFyU\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Archived link<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/Screenshot-2023-03-06-143433.jpg?resize=790%2C1024&amp;ssl=1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Right wing propaganda portal <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/cWX5R\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hindu Post<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, News 1 India editor-in-chief <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/anuragchaddha\/status\/1631676968948363264\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Anurag Chaddha<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, BJP supporter <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/64Qoq\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kuldeep Gaur<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/Mtzx3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Varun Kumar Rana<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and Twitter handle <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/3nj3P\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">@total_woke_<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> shared the image of Harish alleging that his murder had a communal angle. This led us to an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/cities\/hyderabad\/hyderabad-honour-killing-5-detained-for-hacking-dalit-man-to-death-8478680\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Indian Express<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> report dated March 4. The story covered the murder of a man named Harish in the Petbasheerabad area of Hyderabad. It said that five people had been arrested in the case. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to the police, the deceased, Devarakonda Harish, 28, was in love with a girl named Manisha, 25. The girl&#8217;s family had warned Harish against continuing the affair and instructed him to stay away from Manisha. On February 22, the two eloped. The couple reportedly rented an apartment in Petbasheerabad. After this, the woman\u2019s brother, along with others, found Harish and killed him. Police said that Manisha&#8217;s brother was the main accused in this incident, and they also recovered the knife used. In the report,<\/span><b> police are also quoted as saying that both the victim and the accused belonged to the same community.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/Screenshot-2023-03-06-164837.png?resize=810%2C302&amp;ssl=1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to a report published in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/city\/hyderabad\/10-arrested-in-harish-kumar-honour-killing-case\/articleshow\/98437715.cms\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Times of India<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> on March 6, 10 of the 11 accused in the case had been arrested so far, while the remaining one is absconding. Along with the main accused and Manisha&#8217;s brother B Deendayal, the police arrested nine others: T Naresh, P Venkatesh Goud, K Rohit Singh, G Akshay Kumar, P Aniket, K Manish, B Sainath, M Rajendra Kumar and a woman named G Navaneetha. The other accused, B Venkat, was absconding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/Screenshot-2023-03-06-170550.jpg?resize=810%2C846&amp;ssl=1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alt News spoke to the SHO of Petbasheerabad regarding this incident. He said that there was no communal angle in this incident. He also shared the names and details of the accused. The police sent us photographs of the arrested accused with their faces covered. They also shared a press release in which the incident has been mentioned in detail. It has been clearly said that the crime was a case of honour killing. We verified the police statement in the media reports and the names of the 11 accused with the information available in the police press release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-03-06-at-12.07.38.jpg?resize=810%2C457&amp;ssl=1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To sum it up, Right Wing propaganda websites and influencers, journalists and social media users falsely circulated news of a honour killing in Hyderabad with a communal angle.
