It has been claimed that this video is from a tribe in India whose tradition mandates that if a groom dies, the bride is buried alive along with him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8216;Screen Mix&#8217;, an entertainment and media portal from the Middle East,\u00a0 made the same claim while sharing this video. This tweet has been viewed more than 60 lakh times. (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/1qCnE\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Archived link<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Quoting Screen Mix&#8217;s tweet, Pakistani lawyer Mian Omar wrote that such traditions should be discouraged. Urging the United Nations to take cognizance of it, he added that such rituals were against humanity. (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/qqRSj\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Archived link<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2023\/06\/Screenshot-2023-06-07-202925.jpg?resize=810%2C840&amp;ssl=1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jordan-based news agency &#8216;\u062e\u0628\u0631\u0646\u064a Khaberni&#8217; also made the same claim while amplifying the footage. (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/eEIZd\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Archived link<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2023\/06\/Screenshot-2023-06-07-151054.jpg?resize=810%2C1447&amp;ssl=1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The clip is widespread on social media platforms.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Fact Check<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Since this video is in Arabic, Alt News performed a search on Twitter using Arabic keywords related to the viral video with the help of Google Translate. We found a tweet by a user named &#8216;(\u0625\u064a\u0627\u062f \u0627\u0644\u062d\u0645\u0648\u062f) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/BzvLn\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">@Eyaaaad<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8216;, contradicting the viral claim and claiming that the clip was of a wedding being held following the traditions and customs of some tribes in the Baihang district of Nepal. The tweet also featured screenshots of some clips containing the TikTok username @laxu.sapkota.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2023\/06\/Screenshot-2023-06-07-153038.jpg?resize=810%2C1090&amp;ssl=1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Since TikTok is banned in India, we accessed the content of the (@laxu.sapkota) account with the help of a VPN. We found that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@laxu.sapkota\/video\/7234540415913856263\">viral video<\/a> was uploaded by this account recently.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2023\/06\/Screenshot-2023-06-07-154114-min-scaled.jpg?resize=810%2C447&amp;ssl=1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Laxu Sapkota had included a link to a YouTube channel in his bio on TikTok. When we explored this YouTube channel, we found that the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/sABE5p4xVAo\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">viral video<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> had also been uploaded here on June 6, 2023. The title mentions that this is a video of a traditional wedding ceremony in Nepal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[Video unavailable]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Laxu Sapkota has also uploaded this video on his <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/CsY556_AYqZ\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Instagram account<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and added that this was a video of a traditional wedding ceremony in Nepal in which the girl is crying while leaving her home after the wedding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Upon searching keywords related to the farewell on a palanquin in a Nepali wedding on YouTube, we found one such video in which a ritual similar to the viral video is being performed.
