\/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<h4>Fact Check<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alt News ran a relevant keyword search on Google and came across <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/videos\/viral-videos\/on-cam-bjp-leader-thrashed-by-rivals-in-greater-noida\/videoshow\/102208550.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> report by The Times of India<\/a> on July 28, which mentioned that the fight had initially broken out between two sides in the village of Ladpura of Kasna area in Greater Noida. The report also identified the man being beaten up as Rahul Pandit, district vice-president of the BJP.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The report did not say that the clash had anything to do with the ongoing situation in Manipur.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We also ran a keyword search in Hindi which led us to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bhaskar.com\/local\/uttar-pradesh\/gautambudh-nagar\/news\/controversy-started-over-erasing-the-name-from-the-gate-a-video-of-the-beating-also-surfaced-131605399.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">an article by Dainik Bhaskar<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. This story mentioned that the fight had broken out over a land dispute in the village of Ladpura. Villagers had sought to build a temple on a piece of vacant land partially owned by the Lakhpat family. However, the Lakhpat family refused to hand over their land, which led to hostility between two groups in the village. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On July 25, some youths of the village allegedly smeared the name \u2018Lakhpat\u2019 written on a gate constructed outside the village by the Lakhpat family in 2007. This led to a scuffle between the two sides, and Rahul Pandit was badly beaten up with sticks by several villagers for allegedly disrespecting the Lakhpat family, as can be seen in the video.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To examine further, we checked whether the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Station has issued any report on this altercation, and came across <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/noidapolice\/status\/1684859376132034561?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1684859376132034561%7Ctwgr%5E14e70284e4f353f551869c3c3f22183132a2adf0%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thequint.com%2Fnews%2Fwebqoof%2Futtar-pradesh-fight-between-men-on-streets-falsely-linked-to-manipur-violence-fact-check\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">this<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> tweet, which clearly states that the video is in relation to two feuding sides from the village. (<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230801113724\/https:\/\/twitter.com\/noidapolice\/status\/1684859376132034561?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1684859376132034561%7Ctwgr%5E14e70284e4f353f551869c3c3f22183132a2adf0%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thequint.com%2Fnews%2Fwebqoof%2Futtar-pradesh-fight-between-men-on-streets-falsely-linked-to-manipur-violence-fact-check\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Archive<\/a>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-162329\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/08\/Screenshot_123.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"418\" height=\"827\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/08\/Screenshot_123.png 418w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/08\/Screenshot_123-152x300.png 152w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 418px) 100vw, 418px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Other news agencies like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.freepressjournal.in\/india\/up-locals-thrash-bjp-leader-with-sticks-and-rods-on-busy-road-in-greater-noida-case-registered-watch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Free Press Journal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news24online.com\/cities\/delhi-ncr\/watch-video-bjp-leader-rahul-pandita-thrashed-in-greater-noida-street-brawl-mkir\/154110\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">News 24<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> had also written about the incident on July 28. None of them made any mention of the assaulted person making comments on Manipur.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To sum up, the viral video shows a BJP leader getting beaten up by a group of men in the aftermath of a clash between two groups over a land dispute in a Greater Noida village.
