A photograph circulating on social media, accompanied with an elaborate caption, claims that the Modi government kept its promise of transforming \u201cBenaras into Kyoto, Japan and built such a magnificent building in Godowlia that it has become a topic of discussion for the entire world.\u201d <\/em>The post goes ahead to add, \u201c\u0938\u0947\u0915\u094d\u092f\u0942\u0932\u0930 \u092e\u0940\u0921\u093f\u092f\u093e \u0907\u0938 \u0935\u093f\u0915\u093e\u0938 \u0915\u094b \u0915\u092d\u0940 \u0928\u0939\u0940\u0902 \u0926\u093f\u0916\u093e\u090f\u0917\u0940 <\/em>(secular media will never show you this development)\u201d, and asks people to widely share the image so that \u201cthe ones criticising PM Modi shut up.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

It was also circulated by the Facebook page \u2018Modi Mania\u2019<\/a> on July 13 and attracted over 1,800 likes and 1,200 shares. The page has nearly 2.5 lakh followers.<\/p>\n

In 2016, the image, with the identical caption, was circulated by the Facebook page \u2018Viskas Ke Bau\u2019<\/a>\u00a0as a satirical post. Alt News reverse searched the image on Google and found that the highway being shown is Nanpu bridge in Shanghai, China<\/strong>. The cable-styled bridge was the first bridge to cross the\u00a0Huangpu River\u00a0from central Shanghai and opened to the public in 1991.<\/p>\n

Infrastructural images from different countries are often circulated as an \u201cIndian development\u201d. Last year, Chhattisgarh PWD minister Rajesh Munat passed off a Vietnamese bridge as one in Raigarh<\/a>; a digital impression of Rajkot Bus stand<\/a> was circulated by many as the real image; the Ministry of Roads, Transport and Highways posted pictures of roadways from US and Canada<\/a> on its parivahan website.
