Union minister of information and broadcasting Anurag Thakur on September 26 announced Waheeda Rehman as the recipient of the 53rd Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award. Waheeda Rehman is a veteran actress and danseuse known for films like Pyaasa<\/em> (1957), Kaagaz Ke Phool<\/em> (1959), Chaudhvin Ka Chand<\/em> (1960), Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam<\/em> (1962), Guide<\/em> (1965). She received the Padma Bhushan in 2011.<\/p>\n

Following the announcement, several social media users shared a video of an elderly woman dancing to the song Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai from Guide<\/em> (1965)<\/a> claiming she was Waheeda Rehman.<\/p>\n

Next, we did a keyword search on YouTube and found a video posted on January 2, 2022<\/a>, on a YouTube channel called Mayookha<\/a>. The ‘About’ section of the channel says, “… Dance has been a sincere practise and a great source of joy throughout my life… I have now decided to document my current performances. I hope you enjoy the videos as much as I enjoy making them. – PM Sunila Ashok”<\/p>\n

The video in question is titled “Mayookha – Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai (Dance Cover)”.<\/p>\n
