This led us to several news reports in Bengali about the incident. We came across a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sangbadpratidin.in\/bengal\/police-beaten-up-by-mob-after-dragging-out-under-bed-in-kaliaganj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report by Sanbad Pratidin<\/a> which carried a screengrab from the viral video. The report dates back to April of this year.<\/p>\n<p>The title of the report can be translated to: &#8220;Kaliaganj: Police hiding under a plank in Kaliaganj, pulled out and beaten up by mad mob, viral video&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-170096\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/11\/Screenshot-2023-11-07-175859.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1993\" height=\"1539\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/11\/Screenshot-2023-11-07-175859.jpg 1993w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/11\/Screenshot-2023-11-07-175859-300x232.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/11\/Screenshot-2023-11-07-175859-1024x791.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/11\/Screenshot-2023-11-07-175859-768x593.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2023\/11\/Screenshot-2023-11-07-175859-1536x1186.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1993px) 100vw, 1993px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Taking a cue from the above, we ran a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=kaliaganj+police+beaten&amp;rlz=1C1CHBF_enIN1076IN1076&amp;oq=kaliaganj+police+beaten&amp;gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIKCAEQABiGAxiKBTIKCAIQABiGAxiKBTIKCAMQABiGAxiKBTIGCAQQRRg9MgYIBRBFGDzSAQg0MzcxajBqN6gCALACAA&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">relevant keyword search<\/a> that led us to more news reports on the matter from April 2023. As per a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/india\/story\/cops-attacked-inside-kaliaganj-police-station-over-minor-girls-death-2364978-2023-04-26\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> by India Today, a mob set fire to a police station and attacked policemen after a video of policemen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/india\/story\/violence-in-bengals-kaliaganj-over-rape-murder-of-minor-girl-2363369-2023-04-22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dragging the body of a minor tribal girl<\/a> through the street had come to light. The girl had been allegedly raped and murdered. A few days later, Raiganj PD SP Sana Akhtar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/india\/story\/bengal-cops-who-dragged-body-of-minor-girl-bengal-kaliaganj-suspended-2364118-2023-04-24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suspended<\/a> four assistant sub inspectors (ASIs) for dragging the girl&#8217;s body through the street.<\/p>\n<p>Initial reports mentioned that the <a href=\"https:\/\/scroll.in\/latest\/1047850\/west-bengal-minor-girl-allegedly-raped-and-murdered-in-kaliaganj-one-arrested#:~:text=the%20West%20Bengal%20Police%20said%20that%20the%20accused%20in%20the%20case%20has%20been%20identified%20as%20Javed%20Akhtar%2C%20whom%20the%20girl%20knew%2C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">victim knew the accused<\/a> identified as Javed Akhtar. The Calcutta High Court directed the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230519043058\/https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/other-states\/calcutta-hc-sets-up-sit-to-probe-death-of-teenager-at-kaliaganj\/article66839538.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">formation of a SIT<\/a>\u00a0which were given the liberty to conduct a second autopsy if deemed necessary.\u00a0Till now, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/india\/story\/violence-in-bengals-kaliaganj-over-rape-murder-of-minor-girl-2363369-2023-04-22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two persons have been arrested<\/a> in relation to the minor&#8217;s alleged rape and murder. 33 have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thequint.com\/news\/india\/west-bengal-kaliaganj-violence-protests-rape-murder-teenage-girl#read-more\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arrested<\/a> for causing arson.<\/p>\n<p>Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh had <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KunalGhoshAgain\/status\/1651108886504697856?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted the same video<\/a> on April 26, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the claim that the incident is from Rajasthan or is communal in nature is false. The video is from Kaliaganj in <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif\">West Bengal&#8217;s Uttar Dinajpur district and the incident occurred in April 2023.
