The &#8216;tweet&#8217; states that Jinping thanked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for respecting China\u2019s sovereignty by starting his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur instead of the Indian-occupied Arunachal Pradesh. Several social media users shared this screenshot and accused the Congress of colluding with China.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">X handle @BHKslams tweeted the screenshot and questioned whether it was true. (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/MvVen\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Archived link<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Screenshot-2024-01-18-162805.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">BJP supporter Jyotilaxmi Nambiar shared the screenshot describing Congress as a franchise of China and wrote that when the first route of this yatra was published, she had mentioned that Arunachal was left out.(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/GW1wf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Archived link<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Screenshot-2024-01-18-150908k.jpg\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While sharing the screenshot, BJP supporter Minni Razdan, too, accused Congress of colluding with China. (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/4u1Ud\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Archived link<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Screenshot-2024-01-18-150826.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Many <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/kpfjZ\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">other users<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> also shared this screenshot and targeted Congress and Rahul Gandhi.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Fact Check<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alt News performed a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=from%3A%40globaltimesnews%20Chinese%20Premier%20Xi%20Jinping%20thanks%20Congress%20leader%20Rahul%20Gandhi&amp;src=typed_query&amp;f=live\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">keyword search<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> using the words in the viral tweet on the X account of Global Times. However, we did not find any tweet which stated that the Chinese leader had thanked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Screenshot-2024-01-18-162518.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After this, we also searched using the keywords \u2018Rahul Gandhi\u2019 on the website of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/search.globaltimes.cn\/QuickSearchCtrl\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Global Times<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. We could not find any article on the Global Times website. According to the search results on the platform, the last article related to Rahul Gandhi had been published in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/Screenshot-2024-01-18-145333.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When we performed a reverse image search of the photo featured in the viral screenshot on Google, we came across a video uploaded on CGTN (China Global Television Network) YouTube channel <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bY_1aLwwUwU\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">on March 7, 2018<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Comparing the frames of this video with the viral screenshot, it was evident that this was the same video which had been used for the viral tweet. According to the information present in the description of this video, Jinping participated in a panel discussion with representatives of South China&#8217;s Guangdong province at the first session of the 13th National People&#8217;s Congress, China&#8217;s national governing body, on March 7, 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[youtube https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bY_1aLwwUwU?si=VeEpYzK2P2j82HGQ]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Apart from this, if we look closely at the viral screenshot, it appears that it has been doctored, as seen with the cup placed next to the leader.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2024\/01\/2024-01-18-21_14_56-Picsart_24-01-18_18-30-50-197.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To sum it up, several BJP supporters and social media users shared a fake screenshots falsely claiming that Chinese President Xi Jinping thanked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for starting the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur instead of Arunachal.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rahul Gandhi&#8217;s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra started from Manipur on January 14 and will conclude in Mumbai on March 20.
