The tweet has received over 4.5 Lakh views and has been retweeted over 1,700 times. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mdgfund.org\/node\/1321\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">page<\/a> on the website which carried the viral image is titled: &#8220;Haile Gebreselassie kicks off the Great Ethiopian Run under the slogan &#8216;We Can End Poverty by 2015&#8242;&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-200329 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/Screenshot-2024-04-01-155214-min-195x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"398\" height=\"612\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/Screenshot-2024-04-01-155214-min-195x300.jpg 195w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/Screenshot-2024-04-01-155214-min-665x1024.jpg 665w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/Screenshot-2024-04-01-155214-min-768x1183.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/Screenshot-2024-04-01-155214-min.jpg 971w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 398px) 100vw, 398px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Below is a comparison between the viral image and the above image.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-200332 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/FI-Template-26-300x157.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"596\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/FI-Template-26-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/FI-Template-26-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/FI-Template-26-768x402.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/04\/FI-Template-26.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 596px) 100vw, 596px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Taking a cue from the above, we ran a keyword search that led us to a news <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/travel\/article\/ethiopia-africa-travel-next-big-thing\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> by CNN from 2017 titled &#8220;Ethiopia is the hot new place in Africa \u2013 here\u2019s why&#8221;. The article carried the now-viral image with the following caption, &#8220;The annual Great Ethiopian Run in Addis Ababa is popular among tourists.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Addis Ababa is the capital and largest city of Ethiopia and <a href=\"https:\/\/ethiopianrun.org\/great-ethiopian-run-international-10km\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Great Ethiopian Run<\/a> is an annual 10-kilometre road running event that takes place around late November in the city. Hence, the image shows runners from the event in the streets of Addis Ababa.<\/p>\n<p>Further, we found that the image in question was <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mfaethiopia\/status\/1485218863155404800\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shared<\/a> by the official X handle of Ethiopia&#8217;s ministry of foreign affairs on January 23, 2022, along with several other images from the same location of the running event. The caption said, &#8220;#GreatEthiopianRun The biggest running event in #Africa<br \/>\nTake part in it next time and have fun!&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/GreatEthiopianRun?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#GreatEthiopianRun<\/a><br \/>\nThe biggest running event in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Africa?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Africa<\/a><br \/>\nTake part in it next time and have fun! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/UsjRkshGpL\">pic.twitter.com\/UsjRkshGpL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of #Ethiopia \ud83c\uddea\ud83c\uddf9 (@mfaethiopia) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mfaethiopia\/status\/1485218863155404800?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 23, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hence, from the above findings, it is clear that the viral image is neither recent nor from India. Therefore, the claim that the image is from Delhi of AAP supporters is false.
