\/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<h4>Fact Check<\/h4>\n<p>We noticed the logo V6 on the clip, which indicated that the video was taken from a broadcast of Telugu news outlet V6 News. We performed a keyword search on V6 News&#8217; YouTube channel and found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nWFdUNVI9yU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a video<\/a> of Amit Shah&#8217;s speech from April 23, 2023. The video is titled, &#8220;Union Minister Amit Shah Comments Muslim Reservations&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Union Minister Amit Shah Comments Muslim Reservations | V6 Weekend Teenmaar\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nWFdUNVI9yU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>At the 2.38-minute mark in the video, Amit Shah says, &#8220;When a BJP-government is formed, we will abolish unconstitutional reservation for Muslims. The right (to reservation) belongs to <span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif\">the SC\/ST\/OBCs of Telangana. They will get their right and we will end Muslim reservations&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>From the above, it is clear that the viral video has been edited. In the original clip, Shah spoke about abolishing Muslim reservation. In the viral video which is doctored, his words have been digitally altered to make it appear that he had talked about abolishing SC\/ST\/OBC reservation.<\/p>\n<p>We also found the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZSrfmssPiIg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">complete video<\/a> of the public meeting on BJP&#8217;s official YouTube channel. The meeting was held in Chevella, Telangana. At the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/ZSrfmssPiIg?si=YVsYggEK0t4l-z7D&amp;t=898\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">14:58<\/a> mark of the video, the viral part begins and Shah can be heard promising the audience that a BJP government would abolish reservation for Muslims.<\/p>\n<p>We found several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=amit+shah+reservations+telangana&amp;sca_esv=16bdb5150d835063&amp;rlz=1C1CHBF_enIN1076IN1076&amp;source=lnt&amp;tbs=cdr%3A1%2Ccd_min%3A4%2F23%2F2023%2Ccd_max%3A4%2F25%2F2023&amp;tbm=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news reports<\/a> which covered Shah&#8217;s remarks last year.<\/p>\n<p>To sum up, it is clear that Union home minister Amit Shah did not say that the BJP would end SC\/ST\/OBC reservations in Telangana.
