Bloody Fascists! Anti Democracy Emergency Fame Fascists! Die Congress!&#8221;\u00a0<\/em>Her tweet\u00a0was liked over 800 times and was retweeted nearly 500 times.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Looks like Hitlers\u2019 pledge! Bloody Fascists! Anti Democracy Emergency Fame Fascists! Die Congress! <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/INCIndia?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@INCIndia<\/a> doesn\u2019t deserve survival in a democracy. Crying shame on our free political culture! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SkXch8oLwN\">https:\/\/t.co\/SkXch8oLwN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Shubhrastha (@Shubhrastha) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Shubhrastha\/status\/1047517013906604032?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 3, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The video has been shared by individual users on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/naveen.rajpoot.7\/videos\/1825159550854870\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a> as well. It shows a group of youth taking a pledge saying &#8211;\u00a0<em>&#8220;I will not vote for Bharatiya Janata Party in the elections. I will also not provide any support to any worker\u00a0of the Bharatiya Janata Party. I pledge that I will make at least three people take this oath. I will also spread awareness about the corruption and injustice of the Bharatiya Janata Party to the people of my village and my district.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is the truth?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Alt News found that the video\u00a0did not pertain to a recent event and was being shared with a false narrative. Furthermore, its first few seconds were clipped. In the original video, which was reported by several media outlets, the youth can be heard saying,\u00a0<em>&#8220;Till online examinations are not closed, I will not vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party&#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WATCH?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#WATCH<\/a> Teachers of Vijaylaxmi Industrial Training Institute in Itarsi ask students to take pledge not to vote for BJP in the upcoming elections &amp; support it in any manner until it stops online examinations <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/MadhyaPradesh?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#MadhyaPradesh<\/a> (26.01.18) <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PY3S721Mbq\">pic.twitter.com\/PY3S721Mbq<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 ANI (@ANI) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ANI\/status\/957539496064462848?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 28, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The identical video viral on social media does not include the &#8216;online examination&#8217; part to veil the fact that these were students protesting for a cause. The incident took place on January 26, 2018, Republic Day, in Vijaylaxmi Industrial Training Institute, Itarsi ahead of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Elections. The students were protesting online examinations, demanding that they are scrapped.\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/india\/madhya-pradesh-teachers-ask-students-to-pledge-they-wont-vote-for-bjp\/articleshow\/62684429.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Times of India<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outlookindia.com\/website\/story\/heres-why-students-of-this-madhya-pradesh-institute-vowed-not-to-vote-for-bjp\/307499\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Outlook<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/india\/story\/in-mp-s-itarsi-students-asked-to-pledge-not-to-vote-for-bjp-unless-it-stops-online-exams-1155893-2018-01-28\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">India Today<\/a>,<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/khabar.ndtv.com\/news\/india\/madhya-pradesh-students-take-oath-to-not-vote-to-bjp-video-viral-1805652\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>NDTV<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/hindi.news18.com\/videos\/madhya-pradesh-viral-video-of-students-taking-oath-not-to-vote-bjp-1249922.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News18<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jagran.com\/politics\/national-students-take-a-unique-oath-on-republic-day-that-bjp-does-not-vote-till-the-online-examination-closes-17429853.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dainik Jagran<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hindi.firstpost.com\/politics\/madhya-pradesh-teachers-make-students-pledge-not-to-vote-for-bjp-in-video-rp-84731.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Firstpost<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.punjabkesari.in\/national\/news\/students-in-madhya-pradesh-vow-to-not-vote-for-bjp-745615\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Punjab Kesari<\/a><\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/thewirehindi.com\/32664\/madhya-pradesh-students-take-oath-to-not-vote-to-bjp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/thewirehindi.com\/32664\/madhya-pradesh-students-take-oath-to-not-vote-to-bjp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Wire<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>were among the many media outlets that had reported the incident. None of these reports mentions the Congress&#8217; involvement in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>A subsequent article published by\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bhaskar.com\/mp\/bhopal\/news\/MP-BPL-HMU-MAT-latest-bhopal-news-041503-1096704-NOR.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dainik Bhaskar<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>in February\u00a0reported that the college was sent a notice for removal of accreditation by the\u00a0Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The reason cited by the government was that the institute&#8217;s facilities were not at par with the necessary parameters.\u00a0The\u00a0<em>Dainik Bhaskar\u00a0<\/em>report further mentioned that the decision to derecognise the college was taken after a complaint was filed by BJP state spokesperson Rahul Kothari.<\/p>\n<p>The video of an unrelated, old incident was clipped to facilitate the creation of a false narrative. With multiple state elections approaching there will be a spike in such motivated propaganda,\u00a0as it has been observed in the past.
