The post has amassed over 7,100 shares so far. It is being claimed that the Indian army burnt houses of Kashmiri people in Bandipora district of J&amp;K. His post has been shared more than 1,34,000 times and viewed more than 1.6 million times. In the video, in the background, one can hear the noises of people in distress. One of the commentators stated that the video is infact not from Bandipora, but from Uri town in Kashmir.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22933\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/11\/Selection_22_11_2018_005.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"419\" height=\"97\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/11\/Selection_22_11_2018_005.jpg 419w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/11\/Selection_22_11_2018_005-300x69.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Based on this comment, we searched Youtube for incidents of accidental fire in Uri. In our search, we came across a video with the title, &#8220;<em>Four residential houses were gutted in a massive fire incident at Lachipora Uri<\/em>&#8220;. This video was same as the one viral on social media, but rotated by ninety degress and with a higher definition.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Four residential houses were gutted in a massive fire incident at Lachipora Uri\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DEcxXFEs_MM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>To further confirm the veractiy of our findings, Alt News contacted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Bg0-_HWguK_\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peerzada Waseem<\/a>, a photo journalist from Jammu and Kashmir to check if the visuals are familiar to him. Waseem could identify the incident and visuals which we had sent to him. The fire first broke out in a cowshed and <a href=\"https:\/\/kashmirobserver.net\/2018\/local-news\/4-houses-gutted-20-animals-charred-death-uri-blaze-30215\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">later spread<\/a> to the houses in the vicinity. An article published by<em><a href=\"http:\/\/risingkashmir.com\/news\/four-residential-houses-gutted-in-fire-at-uri\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Rising Kashmir<\/a><\/em> on March 27, 2018, stated, <em>&#8220;The local residents, however, said that the fire completely destroyed the houses as there is no fire service station in the area. The nearest and only fire service station is at Uri town, some 18 kilometres away from Lachipora village.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Thus, a video of an accident in Lachipora in Kashmir was passed off as Indian army burning houses in Bandipora, Kashmir and was shared aggressively in the Pakistani social media ecosystem. We have observed a pattern in which attempts are made to malign the Indian army in the Pakistani social media ecosystem through misleading social media campaigns.
