This led us to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.siasat.com\/video-abvp-members-attack-university-officials-police-in-up-2647928\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news report<\/a> by The Siasat Daily which carried a screengrab from the viral video. The report, which was published on July 22, 2023, said that several members of the ABVP had been arrested for allegedly attacking the vice-chancellor and other officials of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay University in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.<\/p>\n<p>The report further mentioned that the students affiliated with the ABVP, who had been protesting against some irregularities in the institution, were enraged when the university&#8217;s senior official did not meet them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-236152\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/07\/Screenshot-2024-07-18-154656.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1286\" height=\"1206\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/07\/Screenshot-2024-07-18-154656.jpg 1286w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/07\/Screenshot-2024-07-18-154656-300x281.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/07\/Screenshot-2024-07-18-154656-1024x960.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/07\/Screenshot-2024-07-18-154656-768x720.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1286px) 100vw, 1286px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We also found a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Benarasiyaa\/status\/1682398490952073216\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweet<\/a> by journalist Piyush Rai from July 21, 2023, which contained a video which included the viral clip. The tweet said that the ABVP workers had been protesting against fee hikes and other matters at the university. At the beginning of the video, one can see a man surrounded by police walking out. ABVP members walk towards him and the securitymen attempt to stop them, which results in a scuffle.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Members of BJP&#8217;s youth wing ABVP protesting against fee hike and other demands at UP&#8217;s Gorakhpur University confronted the VC Prof Rajesh Singh who was moving around with cops in security.
