They warned\u00a0<em>@Ashok6510 <\/em>and asked him to\u00a0delete the tweet. According to a\u00a0<em>Firstpost\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstpost.com\/india\/jharkhand-communal-clashes-ranchi-simmers-after-3-separate-clashes-experts-rue-peaceful-states-descent-into-violence-4509565.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">report<\/a>,\u00a0<em>&#8220;&#8230;communal clashes occurred on 10 June when a crowd at the jam-packed Eid-bazaar in Hindpiri&#8217;s Main Road, got into a fight with a group of people holding a bike rally celebrating four years of Modi government. One of the bikes, reportedly hit a woman, triggering clashes in the area.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Later that evening, two clerics were attacked on their way back from a Madrassa in Nagri, on the outskirts of the capital and were allegedly forced to chant the name of a certain &#8216;god&#8217;, further inflaming communal passions,&#8221;<\/em> added the report.<\/p>\n<p>A rumour of banned meat found in a temple fueled the tension further, leading to stone-pelting between members of two communities.<\/p>\n<p>A video of the abovestated clashes in Jharkhand was tweeted by\u00a0<em>@Ashok6510\u00a0<\/em>as communal violence in Rajasthan. The state police had called out this claim and termed it fake news.\u00a0<em>@Ashok6510\u00a0<\/em>later replied to Rajasthan police that he has deleted his tweet.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"mr\">\u0921\u093f\u0932\u0940\u091f\u0947\u0921<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ashok65 (@Ashok6510) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ashok6510\/status\/1074225087719432192?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 16, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>However, despite taking down his tweet,\u00a0<em>@Ashok6510<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ashok6510?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">retweeted<\/a> the\u00a0<em>OpIndia\u00a0<\/em>article discrediting Rajasthan police&#8217;s statement. He has also retweeted other tweets that targeted Rajasthan Police.<\/p>\n<p><em>OpIndia<\/em> cited two\u00a0<em>Dainik Bhaskar\u00a0<\/em>reports\u00a0&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bhaskar.com\/amp\/rajasthan\/jodhpur\/news\/three-arrested-in-uttar-pradesh-case-seven-days-after-the-assurance-of-arrest-of-all-the-accused-031556-3416176.html?__twitter_impression=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bhaskar.com\/rajasthan\/jodhpur\/news\/four-jeeps-recovered-in-uttaranchar-case-two-jeeps-recovered-032207-3439103.html\">2<\/a> &#8211; of a similar incident from December. This was picked up by other <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bhaiyyajispeaks\/status\/1074581079225495554\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social media users<\/a> as well. The media outlet later, however, missed the tweet by <em>@Ashok6510<\/em> where he stated that he had deleted his original tweet. A Twitter user also posted a screencast of <em>@Ashok6510&#8217;s<\/em> tweet.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Lets give them a video evidence. the actual deleted video still can be played on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ashok6510?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Ashok6510<\/a> TL . <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/w0Vqd9kLuu\">pic.twitter.com\/w0Vqd9kLuu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Azy (@AzyConTroll) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AzyConTroll\/status\/1074634986400014336?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 17, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>OpIndia<\/em> later added an &#8216;update&#8217; to its story, stating that while the video shared\u00a0by\u00a0<em>@Ashok6510\u00a0<\/em>was &#8220;wrong&#8221;, the narrative was correct.\u00a0<em>OpIndia\u00a0<\/em>blamed the Rajasthan police for not attaching the entire tweet by\u00a0<em>@Ashok6510, &#8220;in the absence of which a real incident was being tagged as fake news&#8221;.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24067 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/12\/opindia-update.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"721\" height=\"162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/12\/opindia-update.png 721w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/12\/opindia-update-300x67.png 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2018\/12\/opindia-update-696x156.png 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 721px) 100vw, 721px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The update does little to substantiate\u00a0<em>OpIndia&#8217;s\u00a0<\/em>report as the media outlet itself did not &#8216;fact-check&#8217; the video attached to the tweet, only the narrative.<\/p>\n<p>Results of the recent assembly elections have given rise to misinformation claiming violence in states where Congress came out victorious. Recently, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/video-of-rioting-in-gujarat-viral-as-clashes-in-rajasthan-after-congresss-victory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a video from Gujarat<\/a> was shared as an incident of rioting after the party won in Rajasthan. Many other such false claims (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/viral-false-claim-of-pakistani-flag-waved-at-congress-victory-rally-in-rajasthan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/tarek-fatah-tweets-old-video-falsely-claiming-muslims-waved-pak-flags-to-celebrate-congress-victory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2<\/a>) suggested Pakistani flags and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/madhu-kishwars-fake-news-spree-defends-misleading-video-with-another-misleading-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pro-Pakistan slogans<\/a> were raised at Congress rallies. While Rajasthan police have been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PoliceRajasthan\/status\/1072873628671320064\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">trying<\/a> to prevent the spread of misinformation,\u00a0<em>OpIndia\u00a0<\/em>came out in support of a handle circulating fake news.
