An article published by a fake news website Viral In India<\/em> is doing the rounds on social media. “\u0917\u0941\u091c\u0930\u093e\u0924 \u092e\u0947\u0902 \u0905\u092e\u093f\u0924 \u0936\u093e\u0939 \u092a\u0930 \u0938\u095c\u0947 \u0905\u0902\u0921\u0947 \u091f\u092e\u093e\u091f\u0930 \u0938\u0947 \u0939\u092e\u0932\u093e (Amit Shah attacked with rotten eggs and tomatoes in Gujarat -translated)”<\/em> read the headline of a report<\/a> published by Viral In India<\/em> on December 25, 2018. The report claims that youth gathered in huge numbers had attacked Amit Shah’s convoy with rotten eggs and tomatoes in Junagadh while he was on his way to Somnath, Gujarat.\u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

Circulated on social media<\/strong><\/h3>\n

@ModiLeDubega<\/em><\/a>, a parody handle of Lalu Prasad Yadav tweeted the Viral In India<\/em> story as ‘Big Breaking’. It has garnered close to 1,000 retweets at the time of writing this article.<\/p>\n

One Shantanu Ganguly<\/a> who in his Twitter bio claims to be ‘National Spokesperson Times of Congress’ also tweeted the article with the identical narrative.<\/p>\n

Sanjay Srivastava<\/a> and Girish Chandra<\/a> who are followed by the official Twitter handle of Indian National Congress similarly tweeted the article.<\/p>\n

Several individuals on Twitter<\/a> and Facebook<\/a> also made the identical claim.<\/p>\n

News story from March, 2017<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Alt News found that the incident of attack on Amit Shah’s convoy had happened in March, 2017. A report published by The Quint<\/em><\/a> on March 7, 2017 stated, “The eggs were hurled by the loyalists of the Patidar agitation around 11:30 pm, slowing the cars down as they made their way to Somnath where Shah is expected to join Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a rally”.
