Ye kaisa khel hai, kaisa dhoka hai? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JtIj2W3noD\">pic.twitter.com\/JtIj2W3noD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; ANI UP\/Uttarakhand (@ANINewsUP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ANINewsUP\/status\/1078930520657006592?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 29, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In July this year, Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenewsminute.com\/article\/karnataka-budget-hdk-announces-farm-loan-waiver-34k-crores-conditions-apply-84217\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> a conditional waiver of farm loans, setting aside Rs 34,000 crore in the first budget presented by the JD(S)-Congress coalition government. Later, the figure had shot up to Rs 44,000 crore as the government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deccanherald.com\/state\/hdk-seeks-centre-s-help-rs-44k-682093.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">decided<\/a> to waive all crop loans of Rs 1 lakh in cooperative banks availed till July 1, 2018.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>False, outdated claim<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>PM Modi&#8217;s claim that only 800 farmers have availed the farm loan waiver is outdated. The origin of this claim is a<a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/city\/bengaluru\/rs-44000-crore-loan-waiver-has-helped-only-800-farmers-so-far-karnataka\/articleshow\/67069947.cms?utm_campaign=andapp&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=native_share_tray\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> December 13,\u00a0<\/a><em><em>Times of India<\/em> report in which it was<\/em> reported that the Karnataka government has distributed the sum of Rs 44,000 cr mandated for farm loan waiver scheme to 800 farmers. It further stated,<em>&#8220;Cooperation minister Bandeppa Kashempur told the legislative that only about 800 farmers have availed the benefits of the scheme announced, by the CM on July 5.&#8221; <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Since then, there have been multiple reports which illustrate the progress in the disbursement of loan waiver by the Karnataka government. A reality-check report by <em>NDTV<\/em> on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ndtv.com\/karnataka-news\/from-karnataka-a-reality-check-on-farm-loan-waivers-1965243\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">December 19, 2018<\/a> said that almost 27,000 Karnataka farmers have received their cooperative bank loan waiver certificates at a total cost of almost 150 crores.
