The same photograph was viral in the past as well. In December 2018, Facebook group We Support Narendra Modi<\/a> had shared the picture claiming that the officer was the daughter of the Union minister – “Picture Of The Day. \u0930\u0915\u094d\u0937\u093e \u092e\u0902\u0924\u094d\u0930\u0940 \u0936\u094d\u0930\u0940\u092e\u0924\u0940 \u0928\u093f\u0930\u094d\u092e\u0932\u093e \u0938\u0940\u0924\u093e\u0930\u092e\u0923 \u0905\u092a\u0928\u0940 \u092c\u0947\u091f\u0940 \u0915\u0947 \u0938\u093e\u0925, \u091c\u092f \u0939\u093f\u0902\u0926 \u0964\u0964 \u091c\u092f \u092d\u093e\u0930\u0924 \u0964 (Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman with her daughter, Jai Hindi. Jai Bharat.)”\u00a0The post attracted 15,000 likes and over 800 shares.<\/p>\n Another Facebook page \u092d\u093e.\u091c.\u092a\u093e : Mission 2019<\/a>\u00a0shared the same photograph with the identical claim. Its post attracted over 7,000 likes and 700 shares. Several individual users<\/a> and other Facebook groups<\/a>\u00a0and pages<\/a> also shared the photograph with the same narrative. From a page Justice for punjabi\u00a0hindus<\/a>, it attracted over 500 shares and more than 1,500 likes.<\/p>\n The photograph carries a stamp – ‘Indian Army Protect Us’, which led us to the Facebook page<\/a> that created the image. The\u00a0post, captioned “mother and soldier”, has 25,000 likes and over 5,000 shares.<\/p>\n The photograph and the accompanying text is also widespread on Twitter. From a handle\u00a0@Ashok6510<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>it was retweeted\u00a0400 times and liked over 900 times.\u00a0@Ashok6510is the same individual who\u00a0had earlier tweeted<\/a> a video from Jharkhand, falsely claiming that it depicted Muslims thrashing Rajputs.<\/p>\n The photograph seems to be viral on WhatsApp as well.<\/p>\n Among those who circulated the post were the ones followed by senior BJP leaders including, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal’s Office\u00a0(1<\/a>, 2<\/a>, 3<\/a>), BJP President Amit Shah and the party’s spokesperson Sambit Patra<\/a>.<\/p>\n The tweet by one Roop Darak,<\/a> who identifies himself as a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha\u00a0(BJYM) member, was retweeted nearly 150 times.<\/p>\n Due to the claim’s widespread circulation on social media, the official handle of the principal spokesperson of the defense ministry had tweeted a clarification that the officer in the picture was not the daughter of Nirmala Sitharaman. The photograph was shot during an official visit of the defense minister at the request of the army officer, appointed as the LO to the RM.<\/p>\n “CLARIFICATION”.
