Upon reverse-searching individual frames on Yandex, we found a website &#8211;\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doamuslims.org\/syrian-army-officer-torturing-old-man-and-his-wife\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">doamuslims.org<\/a> &#8211;\u00a0<\/em>which carried a still from the same video in 2015. The website described the atrocity as &#8211;\u00a0<em>&#8220;Syrian army officer torturing an old man and his wife.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-27623 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/02\/download-17.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1349\" height=\"609\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/02\/download-17.png 1349w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/02\/download-17-300x135.png 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/02\/download-17-768x347.png 768w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/02\/download-17-1024x462.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/02\/download-17-990x447.png 990w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/02\/download-17-1320x596.png 1320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1349px) 100vw, 1349px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Alt News used Yandex once again to reverse-search the still and landed on multiple reports from 2015 which ascribed the incident to Syria.<\/p>\n<p>Middle-eastern news channel\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.net\/news\/reportsandinterviews\/2015\/8\/6\/%D9%81%D9%8A-%D8%B3%D9%88%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%A7-%D8%AA%D9%8F%D8%B6%D8%B1%D8%A8-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%86%D8%B3%D8%A7%D8%A1-%D9%81%D8%AA%D9%87%D8%AA%D8%B2-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B6%D9%85%D8%A7%D8%A6%D8%B1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Al Jazeera<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>was\u00a0among the media organisations that\u00a0reported the incident. Its August 6, 2015\u00a0article, published in Arabic, also contains a longer version of the video. The original video does not contain any audio commentary but the man and the woman can be heard screaming. The man using a whip was described as a member of the Syrian government&#8217;s National Defense Forces (NDF).<\/p>\n<p>It is, thus, clear that an old video from Syria was viral in India as the Indian army&#8217;s atrocities on Kashmiri women. Last year, another piece of misinformation was used to target the Indian army in a similar manner.
