For instance, X (formerly Twitter) user Neeraj Singh Dogra (<\/span>@dogra_ns<\/a>) tweeted the video on November 26, 2024, with the caption, \u201c<\/span>Genocide of Hindus in Bangladesh is an eye opener for the <\/span>Hindus of India <\/span>and rest <\/span>of world<\/span>. Don\u2019t abandon your brothers and sisters <\/span>in Bangladesh who the facing the wrath <\/span>of Islamists since the ouster <\/span>of Hasina\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The tweet has amassed over 3.64 lakh views.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jitendra Pratap Singh (<\/span>@jpsin1<\/a>)<\/span>, a frequent disseminator of misinformation, tweeted the video with identical wording.<\/p>\n

We found a tweet by an X account Banglar Chele (<\/span>@iSoumikSaheb<\/a><\/span>), who tweeted the video along with a caption that read, \u201c<\/span>Clear Video Of Mob Lynchings Today. Everyone Was Beating Everyone. No Kids Showed Any Mercy. Looks Like Everyone Was Thirsty For Blood. Azaan Was Going On In Background, This Kids Didn’t Even Respect That!! Abhijeets Condolences Messages In College Gate Is Still There. Who Knew The Dengue Death Of Abhijeet Will Trigger Such Destruction Of His And Other Colleges #Bangladesh<\/span>\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This very tweet was misleadingly quote-tweeted by Neeraj Singh Dogra, mentioned in the claim section.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Upon closer examination, we identified a watermark from “bdnews24.com” on the video, which led us to find the original footage of the video on the official Facebook page of bdnews24.com<\/a>. The caption read, \u201c \u2018Mega Monday\u2019: Mollah college turns into a battlefield, over a hundred injured s<\/span>tudents of Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College in Matuil, Dhaka, have clashed with students from Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul Government College.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Taking a cue from this, we conducted a relevant keyword search that led us to several news reports. According to Prothom Alo , <\/a>on November 25, 2024, Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) was extensively damaged and looted by students of two colleges Shaheed Surhawardy College and Kavi Nazrul College.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Hundreds of students of Shaheed Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul College attacked DMRC around 12 in the noon. A chase and counter chase between the two groups was ongoing till 1:00pm when this report was filed.\u00a0 Locals joined DMRC during the clash.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
