anti-India.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Fact Check<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alt News conducted multiple keyword searches but found no report or any credible evidence supporting such claims.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On February 19, wire agency Press Trust of India <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/Ht62F#selection-2155.34-2155.290\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">had published a report<\/a> citing India\u2019s permanent representative to the UN <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish as saying: \u201cPakistan is the global epicentre of terrorism harboring more than 20 UN-listed terrorist entities and providing state support to cross-border terrorism.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The ambassador goes on to say that it is very ironical that Pakistan praises itself for being at the forefront of the fight against terrorism whereas India has been a victim of terror acts perpetrated by the country through Jaish-e-Mohammed and Harkat Ul Mujahidin among others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-295442\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-02-24-at-4.14.08-PM.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"711\" height=\"633\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-02-24-at-4.14.08-PM.jpeg 711w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-02-24-at-4.14.08-PM-300x267.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 711px) 100vw, 711px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While investigating these claims, we came across the 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economicsandpeace.org\/global-terrorism-index\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Global Terrorism Index (GTI) report <\/a>by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) published in february last year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The IEP report, which looks at global trends and the overall impact of terrorism, ranked Pakistan at the fourth place among 163 countries for the year 2023. India is ranked fourteenth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-295441\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-02-24-at-4.13.48-PM.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"278\" height=\"472\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-02-24-at-4.13.48-PM.jpeg 278w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/02\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-02-24-at-4.13.48-PM-177x300.jpeg 177w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 278px) 100vw, 278px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These rankings are based on GTI scores, which considers not only deaths but also incidents, hostages and injuries from terrorism in a particular year weighted over a five-year period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According the 2024 report, Pakistan had moved up three places to fourth on the Index, &#8220;its worst<br \/>\nplace since 2016.&#8221; The neighbouring country, along with Nigeria and Somalia, has been among those most consistently hit by terrorism since 2011. The report did not say much about India<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To sum up, claims that India has been labelled the largest source of terrorism in Asia by a European research survey are bogus and unsubstantiated.
