jurisdiction Akbarpur Police Station falls, which is where the accident occured, released a statement contradicting Khan&#8217;s.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The police said that the accident was caused because the driver of the cab in which Nazia Elahi Khan was travelling fell asleep. It also urged people to refrain from spreading misinformation on the incident on social media.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"qme\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/v0ji3knVBh\">pic.twitter.com\/v0ji3knVBh<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kanpur Dehat Police (@kanpurdehatpol) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kanpurdehatpol\/status\/1893983885530161375?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 24, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here&#8217;s a translation of the statement:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cPlease be informed that today, February 24, 2025, at approximately 7:00 am, information was received about an accident involving an Ertiga taxi car with registration number UP 79AT 5232 on the highway from Akbarpur towards Kanpur, in front of Anandeshwar Cold Storage within the Akbarpur police station area. Taking immediate cognizance of this information, the local police reached the scene and conducted inquiries. The car driver stated that he fell asleep, causing the accident. When asked to provide a written complaint for further action, he refused to pursue any action and did not submit any complaint. Subsequently, the local police arranged another vehicle and sent everyone to their destination. They praised the police for their good work. Although the incident appears to be an accident, the Circle Officer (CO) of Akbarpur has been directed to conduct a thorough investigation. Please refrain from spreading misleading and baseless information about this incident on social media platforms.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But Khan took to X and disputed the police&#8217;s version. They said that when they arrived at the site of the accident to investigate, Nazia Elahi Khan made no mention of being followed by Muslims from Eta, who deliberately caused the accident. If she faced such an issue, she should have raised it that time itself but rather, she took to social media to post such allegations, they said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The police also said that the driver himself stating that he fell asleep debunks Khan&#8217;s claims on social media. They added that<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> if this further escalates, they will have to take action against the BJP member for spreading misinformation. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The police also told Alt News that on Khan&#8217;s request they arranged another cab as she wanted to go back to Delhi instead of Prayagraj.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While investigating the incident, Alt News also managed to contact the driver of Khan\u2019s cab, which was involved in the accident. The driver clearly told us that neither was anyone following them from Eta nor was the accident deliberately caused. He also said that before the crash, they stopped briefly for tea and even then he did not notice anything suspicious.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Describing the course of events he said, &#8220;A truck overtook us and suddenly slowed down, causing the car to collide with it.&#8221; He further clarified, &#8220;There is no communal angle to the accident. The claim made by Nazia Elahi Khan is not true&#8221;. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He added that after the collision, his vision got blurred and he could note the truck&#8217;s registration number. However, he said that he managed to rescue the passengers before blacking out from the impact. However, he added that he did not recall any conversation throughout their journey where Khan mentioned being followed by Muslims from Eta.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>While there is a slight contradiction in the police statement and the driver&#8217;s version to us regarding how the accident happened (whether or not the driver fell asleep at the wheel), both categorically said that it was an accident and there was no indication of a deliberate attempt. Alt News was not able to independently verify if the driver fell asleep and that&#8217;s what caused the collision.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To sum up, the claims made by Nazia Elahi Khan on social media platforms that she was followed by Muslims, who caused the car to get into an accident are misleading and not true. According to the police and the cab driver, there was no communal angle to the road accident. Her cab collided with a truck, causing the wreckage and injuries to passengers.
