A video showing a headless woman’s body on railway tracks was circulated on social media with claims that the deceased woman was thrown under a moving train after being gangraped in Bangladesh.<\/p>\n

A page on X (formerly Twitter) called Bangladesh Hindu Genocide shared the video<\/a> with the hashtag ‘#Bangladesh Crisis’. The caption reiterated the claim and said, “Will this video of <\/span>#NobelPeacePrize<\/span> winner <\/span>#Yunus<\/span>‘s <\/span>#militant<\/span> rule attract the attention of the conscientious world?” (Archive<\/a>)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While the user does not explicitly say it, they are likely hinting that the woman’s ordeal reflected the predicament of minorities in the neighbouring country. Even after the new government under Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus was formed in August last year, there have been several instances of communal attacks on minority communities in the country, including Hindus. However, amidst this, many false claims and misinformation have also been spread<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fact Check<\/h4>\n

To verify the clip, we broke it into several key frames and ran these frames through a reverse-image search. This led us to a YouTube channel called ‘JS HAUNTED VLOGS,<\/a>‘ which shared the viral clip.<\/p>\n

We noticed that the channel description said that the videos posted there were for entertainment. We also saw that the channel posted several other videos in which actors depicted headless people. These videos led us to believe that the viral clip was likely scripted.<\/p>\n
