A reverse image search using a few frames taken from the viral video led us to a couple of tweets dated March 7, 2025, one by <\/span>Suraj Kumar Bauddh<\/span><\/a>, the founder of an Ambedkarite social orginazation, and another by Bahujan Samaj Party Rajya Sabha member <\/span>Ramji Gautam<\/span><\/a>. Both of them wrote that the incident was from Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. Gautam narrated that a group of about 500 miscreants had broken down the doors of Dalit homes and attacked women and children in the Baktara village of Sehore, Madhya Pradesh<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the basis of the above information we performed relevant keyword searches and found a news report uploaded on <\/span>Zee News’ YouTube channel<\/span><\/a> on March 7. In connection with the viral video, the article mentioned that a riot had broken out between the Dalit and Kirar communities in Baktara village in Sehore. Members of the Kirar community had refused to sell goods from their shops to the Dalits, sparking tension in the area. Meanwhile, a youth named Bablesh Chauhan was found dead, which triggered violent clashes between the two groups. The people of the Kirar community suspected that Chauhan had been murdered by Dalits.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kirars<\/a> are a Hindu agricultural community residing in central India, mainly in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat.<\/p>\n

An <\/span>NDTV report stated<\/span><\/a>, “Two youths, Bablesh Chauhan and Sanjay Ahirwar, got into a fight while drinking. During the fight, the two fought with knives. After this, Sanjay Ahirwar lodged a complaint against Bablesh at Shahganj police station and was admitted to a hospital in Narmadapuram. The next morning, Chauhan’s body was found in the village. There were marks of injuries on his body. The news of the youth’s death spread unrest in the village.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chauhan hailed from the Kirar community<\/a>. Ahriwar was subsequently arrested as prima facie, his stabbing had resulted in Chouhan\u2019s death.\u00a0Police told <\/span>NDTV<\/span><\/a> that those involved in the vandalism and arson of houses were being identified.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bhim Army chief and Nagina Lok Sabha member <\/span>Chandrashekhar Azad<\/span><\/a> criticised the incident. He shared some videos of the incident on X on March 7.<\/span><\/p>\n

To sum up, a video showing violence that was reported in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore in March between the Dalit and the Kirar communities is being passed off as an incident of Muslims attacking Dalits.
