The strikes come follow the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians were killed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On the morning of May 7, India&#8217;s ministry of external affairs held a press conference about the military strikes. The Press Information Bureau <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/gni7uALDpb0?t=84\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">live-streamed<\/a> this. In this briefing, a video of attacks against India over the past few years was shown. About a minute into it, visuals of an explosion on a road with text saying \u2018Pulwama Attack, 2019\u2019 and \u201840 dead, 5 injured\u2019 appeared on screen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>On February 14, 2019, 40 security forces personnel were martyred in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, in an attack carried out by a suicide bomber with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/topic\/pulwama-attack-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">alleged links<\/a> to terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/e07f0e66-b260-4ab2-a746-084588515d35.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But having tracked this video before, Alt News knew there was a mismatch.<\/p>\n<h4><b>Visuals Not of Pulwama?<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/car-bomb-explosions-in-syria-and-iraq-passed-off-as-pulwama-cctv-footage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2019<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/car-bomb-explosion-in-iraq-revived-as-cctv-footage-of-pulwama-terror-attack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2020<\/a>, Alt News had published fact checks about the video shown in the May 7 MEA briefing as visuals of the Pulwama attack. We had found the same video <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Yfvd7q7UkSE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posted on YouTube in 2008<\/a>; the caption suggested the visuals were from Iraq.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The 2008 YouTube video is CCTV footage by a street camera. The time stamp on the screen shows the explosion happened on February 9, 2007, 3:55:26 pm, which is 12 years before the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/Truck-Bomb-YouTube-05-08-2025_06_01_PM.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We then looked for reports on such an attack in Iraq around February 2007 and found some information on the UK government&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/fields-of-operation\/iraq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website on British fatalities<\/a> during their military operations in Iraq. According to this, Private Luke Daniel Simpson of the 1st Battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment was injured in a roadside bomb explosion on February 9, 2007. He later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/fatalities\/private-luke-daniel-simpson-killed-in-iraq\">succumbed<\/a> to injuries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/Screenshot-2025-05-08-180841-05-08-2025_06_11_PM.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alt News could not confirm whether the video is of the same roadside bomb as shown above.
