It has also been claimed that security forces were forced to to fire in the air, during which a stampede occurred and nine stone pelters purportedly died after slipping and falling down the slopes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Viral Video\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/1090056183?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"563\" height=\"1000\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">X handle <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/maheshyagyasain\/status\/1927052462545916342\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">@maheshyagyasain<\/span><\/a>, which identifies itself as a &#8216;fan of Godse&#8217;, <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">made a similar claim while sharing the video. (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/Qnu4L\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Archived link 1<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/VK3oX\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">link 2<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Same Video, Different Claims<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We found that a Facebook page named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/v\/16XgcsMTaB\/\">Utishtha Bharata<\/a> had shared the same footage targeting the Muslim community. The caption says, \u201cJihadis pelted stones on a convoy going to visit Vaishno Devi\u201d. (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/8BagH\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Archived link<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/%E0%A4%89%E0%A4%B6%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%B8%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%A4%E0%A4%BE-BHAARTA-951x1024.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">X users <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MithilaWaala\/status\/1927616626385448967\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Amitabh Chaudhary<\/span><\/a>, <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">who have been known to amplify <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=%40MithilaWaala+site%3Aaltnews.in&amp;oq=%40MithilaWaala+site%3Aaltnews.in&amp;gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRiPAjIHCAIQIRiPAtIBCjI1NDcyajBqMTWoAgiwAgHxBcGGha61Z2OM&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\">communal propaganda and misinformation<\/a>, and BJP supporter <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BanCheneProduct\/status\/1927311612215447714\">KV Iyyar<\/a> also shared the video claiming it showed people in PoK &#8216;welcoming&#8217; Pakistan army personnel. We found the source video uploaded on a Facebook page named <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/v\/1CNDLREuQj\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Indian Military Updates \u2013 IMU<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> on May 15, 2024. In other words, this video is more than a year old. The caption states that it shows Kashmiris pelting stones at a convoy of Pakistani security forces in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Along with this, we came across <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/IndianMilitaryUpdate\/videos\/970130734488953\">another similar video<\/a> on the same Facebook page, which stated that Kashmiris pelted stones at vehicles carrying Pakistani security forces (Rangers) in Pakistan occupied Kashmir\u2019s Muzaffarabad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Using this information as a clue, Alt News performed a keyword search. This led us to a report by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2024\/5\/14\/unrest-in-pakistani-kashmir-whats-behind-the-recent-wave-of-protests\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Al Jazeera<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> published on May 14, 2024, which talks about a protest rally by a group called Jammu Kashmir Joint Awaami Action Committee (JAAC), which had been marching towards Muzaffarabad in PoK since May 11, demanding subsidised flour and electricity, among other things.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/al--954x1024.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOur protesters were completely peaceful but the government\u2019s decision to call in rangers meant that they wanted to use force against us, and now we see that three people were killed,\u201d JAAC Chairman Shaukat Nawaz Mir told Al Jazeera.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/world\/story\/pakistan-occupied-kashmir-protests-fresh-firing-paramilitary-rangers-government-subsidy-2538824-2024-05-14\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">India Today<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.freepressjournal.in\/world\/pok-protests-3-civilians-dead-6-injured-during-unrest-over-basic-utilities-visuals-surface\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Free Press Journal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> also reported that protests against the rising prices of food, fuel, and electricity in PoK intensified and slogans of azadi (freedom) were raised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We also found a report on the official YouTube channel of Pakistani media outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/QuDWL9U7CsE?si=ispMyyXKmPuOtNB1\">Dawn News<\/a> titled, \u201cVideo of stone pelting on Rangers from hills in Azad Kashmir.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/Screenshot-2025-05-29T174140.868-1024x808.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In May 2024, a user on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/pakistan\/comments\/1ctfm36\/why_are_kashmiris_throwing_rocks_at_pakistan_army\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reddit.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> shared the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/pakistan\/comments\/1ctfm36\/comment\/l4bw2qu\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button\">same video<\/a> identifying Lohar Gali as the location where the stone-pelting occurred.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We searched for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Lohar+Gali\/@34.3427167,73.4394117,3a,75y,211.88h,84.9t\/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sCIHM0ogKEICAgICE0JDP2AE!2e10!3e11!6shttps:%2F%2Flh3.googleusercontent.com%2Fgpms-cs-s%2FAB8u6HbZ5XjaQ5G2FXkeB2IaCETfmM3IPbRuC5vb9um4iszwj9sxWpPbBNkxaTdOJdl0nJsXWKvfQtire2Wu_-vAKD9_daZnxQYrIeLGEBeFluSkKLUi5IHWvCOjWCncMfHHwp3lnyf9-w%3Dw900-h600-k-no-pi5.097710704954835-ya19.22578065389041-ro0-fo100!7i8704!8i4352!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x38de20c9c76e3939:0x873fbd26d67bbc3a!2sLohar+Gali!3b1!8m2!3d34.3467368!4d73.4408563!16s%2Fg%2F1hhwkjs99!3m5!1s0x38de20c9c76e3939:0x873fbd26d67bbc3a!8m2!3d34.3467368!4d73.4408563!16s%2Fg%2F1hhwkjs99?entry=ttu&amp;g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDUyNi4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D\">Lohar Gali, Muzaffarabad<\/a> on Google Maps to verify the location. This led us to a view of a winding road similar to the one seen in the viral video as well as a Street View snapshot near a bridge constructed over flowing waters. This makes it clear that the incident is indeed from Lohar Gali, Muzaffarabad in PoK.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/VIRAL-IMAGE%E0%A5%A7%E0%A5%A8-1-1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To sum it up, a one-year-old video of stone pelting on vehicles belonging to Pakistani security forces (Rangers) by protesters in Muzaffarabad, PoK, was falsely circulated with several misleading claims.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A video in which a group of people are seen throwing stones at vehicles passing through a valley has been doing the rounds on social media.
