(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/6pVLn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Archive<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2025\/06\/Screenshot-2025-06-09-160839.jpg\" width=\"504\" height=\"743\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><b>Fact Check<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alt News tried to find news reports on the incident to verify the claims. A keyword search using terms related to the video led us to an <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ddnewsshillong\/status\/1928052614156996993\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X post by Doordarshan News Shillong<\/a> from May 29, 2025. The caption made it clear that the incident happened on May 21 in Shillong, Meghalaya, and the local police apprehended a man named Himan Gogoi from Assam for assaulting the school girl. In the video attached to the post, East Khasi Hills&#8217; superintendent of police (SP) Vivek Syiem says that the incident the CCTV footage, which was viral, helped them trace the victim, who otherwise may not have reported the harassment.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A special team of East Khasi Hills police today apprehended one Himan Gogoi, a 24-yr-old man hailing from Jorhat in Assam, for allegedly sexually assaulting a school girl by lifting her apparel taking photographs through his mobile phone on May 21. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LWcYowibY8\">pic.twitter.com\/LWcYowibY8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 DD News Meghalaya (@ddnewsshillong) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ddnewsshillong\/status\/1928052614156996993?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 29, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/city\/guwahati\/man-from-assam-held-for-harassing-schoolgirls-in-shillong\/articleshow\/121503375.cms\">Times of India <\/a>report dated May 30, 2025 on the case also identifies the accused as Himan Gogoi, a 24-year-old man from Jorhat, Assam.
