After the September 24 violence in Ladakh, a 15-second clip of a speech by activist Sonam Wangchuk went viral on social media. Several major media channels also aired it claiming that Wangchuk had incited people in a speech made on September 10.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Zee News played this video clip and claimed that Wangchuk said, \u201cThe people will bring about change in Ladakh just like it happened in Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.\u201d The\u00a0<\/span>anchor said, \u201cWill you compare India with what happened in Nepal, what happened in Bangladesh, what happened in Sri Lanka?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Republic World also played the clip in a bulletin and claimed, \u201cRepublic has obtained a video of Wangchuk, purportedly recorded on September 10, in which he called for a mass movement in Ladakh on the lines of Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

On a News18 show, anchor Aman Chopra played the said speech by Sonam Wangchuk, claiming that before the violence in Ladakh, he had made inflammatory remarks citing examples of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal to the youth of Ladakh. In the same video, Chopra also falsely identified a masked man in the footage of the September 24 violence as a Congress councilor, which has already been <\/span>fact-checked<\/span><\/a>\u00a0by Alt News.<\/span><\/p>\n

Similarly, pro-BJP users like <\/span>Raushan Sinha<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Bala<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Chandan Kumar<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Kalpana Srivastava,<\/span><\/a> along with RSS mouthpiece\u00a0<\/span>Panchjanya<\/span><\/a>, shared the video and claimed that Sonam Wangchuk, in his speech on September 10, incited the crowd by saying, \u201cLike Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, the masses will bring about change in Ladakh.\u201d These users also called Sonam Wangchuk a separatist disguised as an environmentalist.<\/span><\/p>\n
