No action has been initiated against UP BJP leader and ex-MLA Raghavendra Pratap Singh who promised job to Hindu men if they could ‘bring’ 10 Muslim girls. This, the former Dumariyaganj legislator said, was needed to avenge the alleged conversion of two local Hindu women.<\/p>\n
Delivering a speech at a public meeting at Dhankharpur in Siddharthnagar district on October 16, Singh said, \u201cI am telling you\u2026 In exchange for two (Hindu girls), people bring at least 10 Muslim girls\u2026 How many young men are ready? Raise your hands\u2026 Less than 10 is not acceptable. I will conduct your marriages… I am announcing that whoever brings them, I will ensure you have a job that pays well.”<\/p>\n

Singh is also the state in-charge of the Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV), a Hindutva outfit founded by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath in 2002. The HYV, which has a history of violence<\/a> and vigilantism, was disbanded in 2022<\/a>. However, the group is seemingly still active in certain pockets of the state.<\/p>\n
Singh expressed<\/a> anguish at the two cases of conversion in Dhankarpur village, and proclaimed that in lieu of the two Hindu women who had been converted, 10 Muslim women would be forced to convert. \u201cThese women will be forced to cook beef, will they be able to survive?\u201d, Singh asked referring to the two cases of conversion of Hindu women that he repeatedly mentioned. He threatened that those who had run away with the two would be killed.<\/p>\n
He also issued a warning to ‘mullahs’ and ‘maulvis’, asking them to inform local Muslims that Hindu would take away and convert 10 Muslim women. Singh also threatened that each Muslim\u2019s property and every Muslim household would be searched, and that Muslims would cry out like a goat.<\/p>\n
Singh further announced that if any \u2018mullah or maulvi\u2019 was found to be mistreating a Hindu, they (Singh’s followers, supposedly) would reach the location within 40 minutes and handle the situation. Muslims, he added, could be business partners but should not be allowed to get too close to Hindu families. He also used abusive language to describe Muslims and alleged that they always had eyes for female family members.<\/p>\n
‘No Actin Despite Repeated Complaints’<\/h4>\n
In response to Singh\u2019s inflammatory remarks, Samajwadi Party MLA from Dumariyaganj Saiyada Khatoon said<\/a>, \u201cWhile the government is promoting the slogan ‘beti padhao, beti bachao,” our daughters are being insulted. Repeatedly using offensive language against Muslims is an attack on the secular nature of Dumariyaganj.\u201d In a statement to the BBC, Khatoon asserted that Singh’s controversial remarks were not an isolated incident and repeated attempts to report these issues to law enforcement had been unsuccessful.<\/p>\n
