A link to the official website of ECI was also attached to the message. Multiple social media users on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=can%20now%20vote%20online%202019&amp;src=typed_query&amp;f=live\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/search\/str\/those+who+hold+indian+passport+2019+elections.\/keywords_blended_posts?epa=SEARCH_BOX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook<\/a> have shared the same message.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/nancy.verma.16100\/posts\/2546740015398842\" data-width=\"500\" data-show-text=\"true\">\n<blockquote class=\"fb-xfbml-parse-ignore\" cite=\"https:\/\/developers.facebook.com\/nancy.verma.16100\/posts\/2546740015398842\"><p>Hello All,<br \/>\nThose who hold Indian passport, can now vote online for 2019 elections. As far as the casting of votes for overseas Indian voters is concerned, the Election Commission of India has specified that an overseas Indian voter has to be physically <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/india\/nris-cant-vote-online-in-lok-sabha-polls-election-commission-clarifies\/articleshow\/68100837.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">present<\/a> at the polling booth with his\/her Indian passport. It may well be noted that a bill to extend the facility of proxy voting to overseas Indians was passed by the Lok Sabha in August last year but is pending in the Rajya Sabha.
