Several media outlets including <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/india\/video\/the-crowd-in-the-road-show-is-a-clear-sign-of-our-victory-amit-shah-1489985-2019-03-30\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">India Today<\/a><\/em>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.loksatta.com\/elections-news\/amit-shah-granddaughter-rejects-to-wear-bjp-cap-1867099\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lok Satta<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/abpmajha.abplive.in\/videos\/amit-shahas-grand-daughter-refused-to-wear-bjp-cap-649679\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ABP Majha<\/a><\/em> reported the incident and posted the video.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Amit Shah&#039;s granddaughter refuses to wear BJP cap\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/327463172?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Watch: Amit Shah&#8217;s granddaughter not interested in grandfather&#8217;s saffron-coloured cap&#8221;, <\/em>tweeted <em>India Today<\/em> on March 30 at 10:48 AM.The tweet included a hyperlink to the article which was correspondingly titled, <em>&#8220;Amit Shah&#8217;s granddaughter refuses to wear a BJP hat&#8221;. <\/em>After an hour, <em>India Today <\/em>tweeted the same video once again with a different headline.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-32126 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/imgonline-com-ua-twotoone-izW2avUWsxXjO8G-e1553960503442-1024x829.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"829\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/imgonline-com-ua-twotoone-izW2avUWsxXjO8G-e1553960503442-1024x829.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/imgonline-com-ua-twotoone-izW2avUWsxXjO8G-e1553960503442-300x243.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/imgonline-com-ua-twotoone-izW2avUWsxXjO8G-e1553960503442-768x622.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/imgonline-com-ua-twotoone-izW2avUWsxXjO8G-e1553960503442-990x802.jpg 990w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/imgonline-com-ua-twotoone-izW2avUWsxXjO8G-e1553960503442-1320x1069.jpg 1320w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/imgonline-com-ua-twotoone-izW2avUWsxXjO8G-e1553960503442-260x210.jpg 260w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/imgonline-com-ua-twotoone-izW2avUWsxXjO8G-e1553960503442.jpg 2023w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The video elicited a range of reactions on social media. While some had a good laugh at the antics of the child, others went a step further and used it to mock Amit Shah. He was soon a butt of jokes about how he couldn\u2019t even convince his granddaughter to don the BJP cap.<\/p>\n<h2>Story Disappeared<\/h2>\n<p>By the evening, <em>India Today\u2019s<\/em> tweets, the article and the video had gone missing.<\/p>\n<p>While the tweets were deleted, the articles have been replaced with a different video and narrative, which makes no mention of the incident with the granddaughter and instead focuses on Amit Shah\u2019s rally.<\/p>\n<p>In the collage below, a screenshot of an old article is juxtaposed with the updated version of the article. Old article was headlined,<em> \u201cAmit Shah granddaughter refuses to wear BJP hat\u201d,<\/em> whereas the completely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/india\/video\/the-crowd-in-the-road-show-is-a-clear-sign-of-our-victory-amit-shah-1489985-2019-03-30\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">refurbished<\/a> article was titled, <em>\u201cThe crowd in the road show is a clear sign of our victory: Amit Shah\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-32128 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/ZomboDroid30032019090149-e1553960462934-1024x880.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"880\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/ZomboDroid30032019090149-e1553960462934-1024x880.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/ZomboDroid30032019090149-e1553960462934-300x258.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/ZomboDroid30032019090149-e1553960462934-768x660.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/ZomboDroid30032019090149-e1553960462934-990x851.jpg 990w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/03\/ZomboDroid30032019090149-e1553960462934.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>India Today\u2019s<\/em> <em><a href=\"https:\/\/aajtak.intoday.in\/video\/when-granddaughter-of-amit-shah-refuses-to-wear-bjp-cap-1-1071800.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aaj Tak<\/a><\/em> also followed suit in removing the story. Interestingly,<em> India Today,<\/em> in pursuit of deleting all the traces of the story on their platform, has also deleted the corresponding posts from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/IndiaToday\/posts\/10157980216442119\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/indiatoday\/status\/1111882979427545088?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a>. The video however still exists on their official <a href=\"https:\/\/m.aajtak.in\/video\/embed\/8105ab81\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time that an article on Amit Shah has been pulled down. In the past stories on Amit Shah&#8217;s assets and Smriti Irani&#8217;s &#8216;Degree&#8217; have <a href=\"https:\/\/thewire.in\/media\/amit-shah-assets-smriti-irani-degrees-toi-et-outlook\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vanished<\/a> from <em>TOI<\/em> and <em>DNA<\/em>. Like the previous instances, this time too reason behind the quiet retraction may never be known.<\/p>\n<p>In Jan last year, Nita and Mukesh Ambani\u2019s son Anant Ambani\u2019s spirited speech was taken <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/thou-shalt-not-mock-anant-ambani-eight-websites-delete-articles-speech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">down<\/a> by multiple media outlets after he was mocked in social media. A story on <em>\u2018threat from Modi\u2019s nationalism\u2019<\/em> behind India\u2019s poor ranking in press freedom index was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/indian-medias-reluctant-coverage-2017-world-press-freedom-index-reflection-indias-low-rank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">deleted<\/a> by <em>Economic Times <\/em>and <em>Times of India. <\/em>A report by<em> Economic Times<\/em> on the Cobrapost sting operation on a senior Paytm official also <a href=\"https:\/\/thewire.in\/media\/as-et-pulls-down-paytm-cobrapost-sting-story-questions-over-its-coverage-arise\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">disappeared<\/a> without any explanation. Meanwhile, India\u2019s rank in the Press Freedom Index has been sliding over the years.
