BJP MP <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SuPriyoBabul\/status\/1127526244768190464\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Babul Supriyo<\/a> also shared the viral video on May 12.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"hi\">\u092c\u0902\u0917\u093e\u0932 \u092e\u0947\u0902 \u091a\u0930\u092e \u092a\u0930 \u092a\u0939\u0941\u0902\u091a\u0940 \u2018\u0928\u093f\u0930\u094d\u092e\u092e\u0924\u093e\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u0932\u094b\u0915\u0924\u0902\u0924\u094d\u0930 \u0915\u094b \u0915\u0941\u091a\u0932 \u0930\u0939\u093e TMC \u0915\u093e \u2018\u0917\u0923\u0924\u0902\u0924\u094d\u0930\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BengalPollViolence?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#BengalPollViolence<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/r933bLZ5IL\">pic.twitter.com\/r933bLZ5IL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 BJP (@BJP4India) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BJP4India\/status\/1127551496260702208?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 12, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Several other media outlets including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6X2Vdh2NcGo&amp;t=4s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">News24<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bOaOtPwGjYQ&amp;amp=&amp;t=44s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>News 18<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?time_continue=7&amp;amp=&amp;v=fkw3Zp3O94g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>India TV<\/em><\/a> relayed the visuals claiming that these were from Purulia district, West Bengal.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"India TV claims that visuals of gun-toting men are from Purulia, West Bengal\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/335895230?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"640\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Fact-check<\/h2>\n<p>We found that the men in the video only said they were going to Raghunathpur, which is a city located in Purulia district, West Bengal. Based on the video, it is difficult to verify if the video is from West Bengal.<\/p>\n<p>Alt News contacted Purulia police to ascertain whether such gun-totting were spotted in Purulia district. Superintendent of Police Akash Magharia said, <em>&#8220;In the video, the men never said where they are from and where did they belong to. This is not related to Purulia district.\u00a0 Anybody can claim that they are going to Purulia. My nakkas [checkpost] were in place. My men are in town. No person of that type carrying such arms had entered Purulia and we had a peaceful election here&#8221;. <\/em>In response to the question whether the police were able to locate the video, he said, <em>&#8220;We had earlier thought it to be from Jharkhand but we are investigating it further.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><em>Times Now<\/em><\/h2>\n<p><em>Times Now<\/em> also broadcasted the same visuals while covering the polls but later clarified in the same show that it was <em>&#8220;a fake video&#8221;<\/em>. The reporter in the broadcast said that a local journalist had orchestrated the sequence in the video and that the police are investigating the matter.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">FAKE VIDEO ALERT: TIMES NOW has learnt about a &#8216;Bandook&#8217; video, in which a group of unidentified men brandishing &#8216;guns&#8217; is being spread on social media. The video is FAKE. Cops claim that video is from Jharkhand &amp; not Bengal. Suffice to say, a video sans verification was relayed by sections of mainstream media with an unsubstantiated narrative that TMC workers were threatening the voters in West Bengal. As far as the claims about TMC workers brandishing guns in Purulia is concerned, the men in the video only stated that they are going to Raghunathpur, which is in Purulia district. Neither, there is evidence to claim that they were TMC workers nor that they entered Purulia.
