Alt News searched Google with the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=moscow+metro+ticket+squats&amp;rlz=1C1CHBF_enIN773IN773&amp;source=lnms&amp;tbm=nws&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwj-6qPs2Z3jAhXYEHIKHXYWCKwQ_AUIEigD&amp;biw=1366&amp;bih=625\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> keywords<\/a> &#8216;Moscow metro ticket squats&#8217;, and found <a href=\"https:\/\/news.google.com\/search?q=moscow%20metro%20ticket%20squats&amp;hl=en-IN&amp;gl=IN&amp;ceid=IN%3Aen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">several articles<\/a> regarding the same, the earliest of which were of November 2013.<\/p>\n<p>According to these reports, <strong>the initiative was part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/price-of-riding-the-moscow-subway-30-squats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">promotional campaign<\/a> for the Winter Olympics which was held in Sochi, Russia in February 2014<\/strong>. Another stated objective was to encourage an active lifestyle among citizens and enthusiasts. Posted below is a promotional video of the same, uploaded in November 2013.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u041e\u043b\u0438\u043c\u043f\u0438\u0439\u0441\u043a\u0438\u0435 \u043f\u0435\u0440\u0435\u043c\u0435\u043d\u044b\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ojo9M1cPSPI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A machine with a special sensor was installed at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/andrewbender\/2013\/11\/14\/moscow-subway-station-lets-passengers-pay-fare-in-squats\/#6e593322b0d8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vystavochnaya station<\/a> in Moscow. Those who performed 30 squats within a span of 2 minutes were eligible for a free ticket on the subway. The service was, however operational only till December 3, 2013 according to a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/andrewbender\/2013\/11\/14\/moscow-subway-station-lets-passengers-pay-fare-in-squats\/#67cde82b0d83\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em> Forbes<\/em><\/a> article.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-40263\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/07\/metro2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"885\" height=\"538\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/07\/metro2.jpg 885w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/07\/metro2-300x182.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/07\/metro2-768x467.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 885px) 100vw, 885px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A similar incentive-driven approach was introduced in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/society\/shortcuts\/2015\/jan\/27\/mexico-beat-obesity-make-commuters-do-squats-for-free-subway-tickets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mexico City<\/a> in 2015, where a ticket on a subway could be secured through as few as 10 squats. 30 motion sensing machines were installed for this purpose. Recently, <a href=\"http:\/\/theindependent.sg\/do-20-squats-in-40-seconds-and-you-get-a-free-mrt-ride\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Singapore<\/a> too introduced the squats-for-tickets plan.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-40266\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/07\/metro3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"582\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/07\/metro3.jpg 580w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/07\/metro3-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/07\/metro3-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It may be reiterated that the aforementioned claim is correct- 30 squats did indeed guarantee a free ticket on the Moscow metro, albeit the news pertains to 2013, and the machine was installed at one station on the Moscow subway system.
