Alt News also received verification requests on its <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.altnews&amp;hl=en_IN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mobile app<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Fact-check<\/h2>\n<p>Alt News broke down the video into multiple frames and performed a reverse image search to discover that social media claims are false. Jalandhar police did not lathi-charge the aspirants but 21 youths were injured when a wall collapsed at Punjab Armed Police (PAP) ground at Jalandhar on August 5. Two of the youths were also electrocuted as a live wire broke, reported <em><a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/city\/chandigarh\/punjab-21-youths-injured-in-wall-collapse-at-iaf-recruitment-rally-in-jalandhar\/articleshow\/70536679.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Times of India<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>adding that<em> &#8220;thousands of youths had come to participate in the recruitment rally and according to sources and several of them were standing against the wall which collapsed.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em>There were no reported deaths.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8qRcVuyxyqg\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8qRcVuyxyqg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The incident was covered across media outlets. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aninews.in\/news\/national\/general-news\/punjab-21-air-force-job-aspirants-injured-in-wall-collapse-few-electrocuted20190805165709\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ANI<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>reported,\u00a0<em>&#8220;According to locals the students were forced to wait in long queues and roads due to lack of proper seating and waiting facilities in the premises.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to a local report in\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tribuneindia.com\/news\/jalandhar\/pap-wall-collapse-raises-questions-over-its-security\/813711.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Tribune<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>the boundary wall was 5.5km and was recently fitted with barbed wires to strengthen it.\u00a0<em>&#8220;But today\u2019s incident showed as to how fragile the walls of the highly secured area were. Even as just about 30-40 youths reportedly leaned on it, the wall gave in making the access open to the compound,&#8221;\u00a0<\/em>the report furthered. The police maintained that excess weight led to the collapse.<\/p>\n<p>Social media claims suggesting that youth in Punjab lost their lives due to police lathi-charge and subsequent electrocution during air force recruitment drive in Jalandhar are false.
