The narration has been superimposed to the video.<\/p>\n<h3>Part 1<\/h3>\n<p>The first part of the video, where police and army men are lathi-charging a crowd that includes women, is two years old. The same video was found on YouTube uploaded in August 2017. According to its description, the video shows police thrashing Dera followers, supporters of rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim, in Haryana&#8217;s Panchkula.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Panchkula Lathi Charge on Dera Premis\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ymJ2Se-jbZE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Alt News found another video of the same incident taken from a different angle. It was uploaded by <em>Outlook<\/em>. The same street as in the viral video can be seen in this video 0:13 seconds onward.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Verdict: Reactions\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WoW8W_qOs7A?start=13&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Multiple similarities in both the clips have been pointed out in the collage below.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-43982 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/08\/Untitled-design-20-e1566212634497.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"845\" height=\"602\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/08\/Untitled-design-20-e1566212634497.jpeg 845w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/08\/Untitled-design-20-e1566212634497-300x214.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/08\/Untitled-design-20-e1566212634497-768x547.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 845px) 100vw, 845px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Widespread rioting and violence had broken out in parts of North India after Dera Sacha Sauda leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim was convicted of rape. Haryana&#8217;s Panchkula was the worst hit. Supporters of the rape convict went on a rampage of disrupting public property, including setting ablaze government buildings, vehicles and petrol pumps. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/Politics\/TQt830eKFd6juqtqHhvVTL\/32-died-in-violence-after-conviction-of-Gurmeet-Ram-Rahim-Si.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports<\/a>, 36 people were killed in police gunfire and the maximum casualty was reported from Panchkula. The police&#8217;s use of bullets against the rioters was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsclick.in\/was-shoot-kill-only-option-police-panchkula\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">called into question<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Part 2<\/h3>\n<p>The second part of the video which shows wailing women has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/muslims-in-jhansi-tortured-by-hindus-old-video-shared-with-a-false-communal-angle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">debunked by Alt News earlier in May<\/a> when it was viral in Pakistani social media ecosystem with the claim that Hindus are arbitrarily killing Muslims. The background narration said that the incident took place in UP&#8217;s Jhansi.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-43985 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/08\/2019-05-25-18_45_48-Hubaib-Yousefzai-on-Twitter_-_Indian-Hindus-are-entering-Muslims-Homes-and-kill.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"469\" height=\"571\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/08\/2019-05-25-18_45_48-Hubaib-Yousefzai-on-Twitter_-_Indian-Hindus-are-entering-Muslims-Homes-and-kill.png 469w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/08\/2019-05-25-18_45_48-Hubaib-Yousefzai-on-Twitter_-_Indian-Hindus-are-entering-Muslims-Homes-and-kill-246x300.png 246w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 469px) 100vw, 469px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But the video is neither from Jhansi nor from Kashmir.<\/p>\n<p>It is a 2018 video from Telangana when\u00a0a sub-inspector was caught on camera beating his wife and mother-in-law. At 0:56 minutes in the video below, the visuals of the wailing woman that have been incorporated into the viral video can be seen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/o_R0c5AtTBs?t=56\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/o_R0c5AtTBs?t=56<\/a><\/p>\n<p>An edited video clip has thus been circulated on Pakistani social media, including by an incumbent minister of the country, to depict brutality in Kashmir after the Indian government&#8217;s decision to dilute Article 370.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pakistani Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi tweeted a video where, in the first part, police can be seen charging a crowd of people with lathis.
