A video of the incident, which showed a man being assaulted, was then shared on social media. Soon after this, some news organisations reported that a Muslim youth was attacked at a mall in Mangaluru by a mob which asserted that India is a Hindu rashtra.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>NEWS REPORTS STATE MUSLIM YOUTH BEATEN UP<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In the report by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dsVvKJ9t7zI&amp;feature=youtu.be\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>News18 Urdu<\/em><\/a>, the news anchor stated that the person seen assaulted is a Muslim youth, who was told by a mob that India is a &#8216;Hindu Rashtra&#8217; with no place for Muslims. The correspondent further stated that the name of the victim is Shakir, and that according to sources, the assault was the handiwork of men associated with the Sangh parivar. The video of the broadcast is posted below.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mob Lynching: Man Calls For &quot;Hindu Rashtra&quot; At Mall In Karnataka&#039;s Mangaluru, Thrashed\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dsVvKJ9t7zI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Apart from <em>News18 Urdu, <a href=\"https:\/\/aajtak.intoday.in\/story\/karnataka-mangaluru-muslim-youth-beaten-video-viral-1-1123254.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aaj Tak<\/a><\/em> had also reported that a Muslim youth was beaten up after being told India is a &#8216;Hindu Rashtra&#8217;. The report was later altered, but a screenshot of the same is posted below. Here too, the URL of the article suggests that it was altered, since it reads, <em>&#8216;https:\/\/www.jansatta.com\/crime-news-hindi\/karnataka-muslim-youth-beaten-by-students-in-mangaluru-mall-allegedly-said-india-is-a-hindu-nation-video-viral-jsp\/1166875\/&#8217;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-47334\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/09\/mall6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"906\" height=\"456\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/09\/mall6.png 906w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/09\/mall6-300x151.png 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/09\/mall6-768x387.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 906px) 100vw, 906px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>INCIDENT MISREPORTED BY <em>NEWS18 URDU\u00a0<\/em>AND\u00a0<em>AAJ TAK<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><i>News18 Urdu\u00a0<\/i>and <em>Aaj Tak<\/em> had misreported the incident. The victim, who was assaulted, is not a member of the Muslim community. Moreover, those who had assaulted him had not stated that India was a &#8216;Hindu Rashtra&#8217;. It was in fact stated by the victim himself, as is apparent from the video clip wherein he can be heard referring to &#8216;Hindu Rashtra&#8217;. It may be noted that <em>Aaj Tak<\/em> had later deleted the report.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenewsminute.com\/article\/man-calls-hindu-rashtra-mangaluru-mall-gets-thrashed-students-109530\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>The News Minute<\/em><\/a>, Manjunath, the person who was beaten up had asserted India is a &#8216;Hindu Rashtra&#8217;, following which he was assaulted by a group of students. The report states, <em>&#8220;Police said that they have arrested Moideen Safwan, Abdul Rahim Saad, and one minor. According to the police, the youngsters who assaulted Manjunath belonged to a city-based college and some of them were wearing their uniforms.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-47315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/09\/mall4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"624\" height=\"487\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/09\/mall4.png 624w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/09\/mall4-300x234.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The same was reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news18.com\/news\/india\/youth-bats-for-hindu-rashtra-without-muslims-at-mangaluru-mall-gets-thrashed-by-students-2323143.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>News18<\/em><\/a>. It is interesting to note that <em>News18 Urdu<\/em> had reported the opposite, as has been pointed out in this article.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>SHARED WITH FALSE NARRATIVE BY <em>POSTCARD NEWS<\/em> FOUNDER<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Mahesh Vikram Hegde, founder of Postcard News, had tweeted the video with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/video-of-scuffle-at-mangaluru-mall-shared-with-false-communal-narrative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">false claim<\/a> that &#8216;peacefuls&#8217; had eve-teased some girls at the mall, and when prevented from doing so by a Hindu, assaulted him. This was rubbished by Mangaluru police, stating, <em>\u201cOur investigation does not corroborate this version.
