A video which shows horrific visuals of buildings reduced to rubble is being circulated on social media. “Mexico Eathquake 8.1 RichterScale just hours ago today,”<\/em> posted a Facebook user<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Several people on Facebook in the span of a few hours shared the video suggesting that Mexico was struck by an 8.1 magnitude earthquake.<\/p>\n

Alt News performed a Google search and found that Mexico was devastated by an 8.1 magnitude earthquake on September 7, 2017. This is a two-year-old incident which was dubbed<\/a> as the strongest quake to hit the country in the last 100 years. According to a CNN<\/em> report<\/a>, at least 61 people had in the 2017 Chiapas earthquake.<\/p>\n

In a 2017 BBC<\/em> news report, identical visuals can be seen which prove that an old video of the earthquake in Mexico is being shared on social media as recent.<\/p>\n
