Reporting on the development, an anchor on <em>NDTV<\/em> stated that the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal himself has six children.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"NDTV falsely reports that Sarbananda Sonowal has six children\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/368765419?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In the above video, the anchor Sonal Mehrotra Kapoor can be heard saying, <em>&#8220;It was in 2017 that the Assam legislative assembly adopted a two-child population policy. The state cabinet has now finally decided to implement it by making government jobs out of bounds for people with more than two kids. That means that if you have more than two kids, you will not be entitled to any government job in Assam. The policy will come into effect from January 1, 2021&#8230;<strong>The interesting bit in this is that the Chief Minister himself has six kids, but he has decided to finally implement this two-child policy<\/strong>.&#8221; <\/em>The part where the anchor refers to the Assam CM begins from 00:47 minutes in the above clip.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>FACT CHECK: MISINFORMATION BY <em>NDTV<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><em>NDTV&#8217;s<\/em> reportage, wherein it was stated that the Chief Minister of Assam has six children, is factually incorrect. In an <a href=\"http:\/\/ceoassam.nic.in\/election\/ls2014\/Affidavits\/14\/08_SARBANANDA_SONOWAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">affidavit filed by Sarbananda Sonowal<\/a> in 2014 for the Lok Sabha election, which is available on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam, it is categorically mentioned that he has no children.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49615\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/10\/sonowal3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"782\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/10\/sonowal3.jpg 782w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/10\/sonowal3-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/10\/sonowal3-768x481.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 782px) 100vw, 782px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Moreover, iInformation about Sarbananda Sonowal&#8217;s marital status is readily available on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.assamassembly.gov.in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a> of the Assam assembly.
