It was published in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Upon reverse-searching the image, Alt News found a news article published by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/andhra-pradesh\/20-red-sanders-smugglers-shot-dead-in-chittoor-encounter\/article7076614.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>The Hindu<\/em><\/a> published in April 2015, titled &#8216;<em>20 woodcutters from TN gunned by A.P. police<\/em>&#8216;. According to the report, these men were shot dead in an alleged encounter in the Seshachalam forest at the foot of the Tirumala hills where they were found felling red sandalwood.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-52909\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/12\/encounter2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"619\" height=\"593\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/12\/encounter2.jpg 619w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2019\/12\/encounter2-300x287.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 619px) 100vw, 619px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The image in question dates back to 2015. This however did not prevent several TV news channels from broadcasting it as &#8216;exclusive&#8217; and &#8216;first&#8217; visual of the Hyderabad encounter.
