According to the report, a railway station in Paris, Gare de Lyon, was set ablaze by protesters opposing a concert by Fally Ipupa from the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-60009 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/02\/Screenshot-2020-02-29-at-4.14.19-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"858\" height=\"487\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/02\/Screenshot-2020-02-29-at-4.14.19-PM.png 858w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/02\/Screenshot-2020-02-29-at-4.14.19-PM-300x170.png 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/02\/Screenshot-2020-02-29-at-4.14.19-PM-768x436.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 858px) 100vw, 858px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Several media outlets reported that the fire was started by political opponents of the DR Congo government. They accused Ipupa of being too close to the Congolese government.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Paris : incendie \u00e0 la gare de Lyon en marge d&#039;un concert de Fally Ipupa\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mM3y78Y29JQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>According to <em>BBC<\/em>, &#8220;For years parts of the Congolese diaspora have condemned musicians they view as too close to the political elite they blame for destroying the country. As a punishment they have used direct action to effectively ban musicians from performing in Europe and thereby prevent them [from] making money. For about 10 years, some members of the diaspora would try to beat up any musician &#8211; and anyone who was part of the regime &#8211; whenever they visited Europe. It happened to some senior officials in the past few years. Some musicians have had concerts targeted. Fally Ipupa is the first Congolese artist to perform in Europe since then.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The<em> BBC<\/em> report also added that police has arrested 30 people and fined 54 for participating in a banned protest.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, social media claims attempted to communalise a case of arson by political opponents of the Congolese government in Paris.
