Alt News has received multiple requests to fact-check the viral video on WhatsApp (+91 76000 11160) and on our <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.altnews&amp;hl=en_IN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">official Android application<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22778\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/sites\/2\/2020\/03\/576bc305-83a0-4887-b2ce-ee410c2591e4.jpg?resize=1158%2C628&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"1158\" height=\"628\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Fact-check<\/h4>\n<p>Alt News analysed the viral video using InVid video verification tool. A reverse-image search on Yandex led to a July 2019 article by <em><a href=\"https:\/\/n.com.do\/2019\/07\/15\/video-a-nalgadas-con-tabla-presuntos-policias-castigan-a-joven-ladron\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">n.com.do<\/a><\/em>, a Spanish news website, which carried the viral video. According to the report, the incident shows three men dressed like the police beat up a man. The first confirmed case in China, the origin of the virus, was reported months later in November 2019. However, it is noteworthy that the video has been shared at a time when questions are being raised on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2020\/03\/migrants-india-sprayed-disinfectant-fight-coronavirus-200330135052425.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">harsh measures<\/a> adopted by the Indian police on migrant workers attempting to get to their home states on foot. The lockdown has left thousands of them without food and a means of transportation.
