He was arrested by the police after a complaint was filed by the victim.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WATCH?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#WATCH<\/a> Former DMK Corporator Selvakumar hits a woman at a beauty salon in Tamil Nadu&#8217;s Perambalur. The incident took place on 25th May&#8217; 18. He has been arrested by the police and has been suspended from primary membership of the party (Source: CCTV footage) <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/B623qaLc0k\">pic.twitter.com\/B623qaLc0k<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 ANI (@ANI) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ANI\/status\/1040148919232028673?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 13, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenewsminute.com\/article\/dmk-man-kicks-assaults-woman-tn-beauty-parlour-party-suspends-him-88284\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The News Minute<\/a>, the incident took place at Mayuri beauty parlour in May 2018. Sathya, the owner of the beauty parlour who is assaulted and kicked in the video, had alleged financial dealings with DMK councillor Selvakuma. She registered a case months after the incident following which Selvakumar was arrested by the police. He was reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenewsminute.com\/article\/dmk-man-kicks-assaults-woman-tn-beauty-parlour-party-suspends-him-88284\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">expelled<\/a> from the party in September 2018 and later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenewsminute.com\/article\/dmk-reinstates-worker-suspended-assaulting-woman-tn-beauty-parlour-92532\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reinstated<\/a> in December 2018.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, an old video of DMK leader Selvakumar assaulting a woman was revived on social media with the false claim that he attacked a lady doctor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A video of a man brutally assaulting a woman is doing the rounds on social media.
