Surjewala wrote in Hindi, &#8220;New India&#8217;s truth (translated from \u0928\u094d\u092f\u0942 \u0907\u0902\u0921\u093f\u092f\u093e \u0915\u093e \u0938\u091a!).&#8221; This tweet was retweeted at least 190 times. Surjewala subsequently deleted the tweet without any clarification. Below is a screenshot of an archived link of the tweet that can be accessed <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/OrCYP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. Readers should note the time stamp on the archived tweet is not as per the Indian Standard Time (IST).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-67161 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/05\/Screenshot-2020-05-19-at-3.32.15-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"602\" height=\"690\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/05\/Screenshot-2020-05-19-at-3.32.15-PM.png 602w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/05\/Screenshot-2020-05-19-at-3.32.15-PM-262x300.png 262w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Fact-check<\/h4>\n<p>Alt News performed a reverse image search on Bing, and found that the viral image was published on UK-based blog &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclechic.co.uk\/blog\/2016\/02\/mums-bikes-instagram-competition.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cyclechic.co.uk<\/a>&#8216;. The image on the 2016 article was sourced to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.es\/pin\/475411304393275683\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pinterest<\/a> which credited it to &#8220;Info News.&#8221; The caption on the image reads, &#8220;This picture of a mother and her baby was taken in Nepalgunj, Nepal where bicycle travel is the usual transportation.&#8221; However, the link to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.infonews.com\/2012\/07\/03\/sociedad-28122-las-mejores-postales-del-planeta-en-las-ultimas-24-horas.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Info News<\/a>\u00a0is no longer functional. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-67165 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/05\/Screenshot-2020-05-19-at-4.25.05-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"518\" height=\"664\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/05\/Screenshot-2020-05-19-at-4.25.05-PM.png 518w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/05\/Screenshot-2020-05-19-at-4.25.05-PM-234x300.png 234w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 518px) 100vw, 518px\" \/>On May 19, <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/times-fact-check\/news\/fake-alert-randeep-surjewala-shares-photo-from-nepal-calling-it-new-indias-truth\/articleshow\/75827779.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Times of India<\/a> published a fact-check report and found that the image is available on <a href=\"https:\/\/webgate.epa.eu\/id\/50416173\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">European Pressphoto Agency<\/a>. As per the details on the stock photo agency, the image was clicked by Narendra Shrestha on June 29, 2012.
