As per the video description, a<span class=\"style-scope yt-formatted-string\" dir=\"auto\"> civil bus carrying 93 Border Security Force (BSF) troops met with a road accident while on the way to Silchar on October 30, 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Indian Army Accident Video\" width=\"1290\" height=\"726\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/K8S4LVKrmTM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Using this as a clue, we performed a keyword search on Google restricting the results between October 30, 2019 to October 31, 2019 and found that <a href=\"https:\/\/nenow.in\/north-east-news\/meghalaya\/meghalaya-bus-carrying-20-bsf-jawans-falls-in-deep-gorge.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Northeast Now<\/a> published a news report that matches the above-mentioned context. As per the report, one person died and 22 others, including 20 BSF jawans and two civilians, were injured as a bus fell down in a gorge at Umtyrra in East Jaintia Hills on October 30, 2019.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-69511 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/06\/Screenshot-2020-06-21-at-13.48.18.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"855\" height=\"329\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/06\/Screenshot-2020-06-21-at-13.48.18.png 855w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/06\/Screenshot-2020-06-21-at-13.48.18-300x115.png 300w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/06\/Screenshot-2020-06-21-at-13.48.18-768x296.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 855px) 100vw, 855px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The report added that the BSF team was heading back to their base in two civil buses, three heavy vehicles and one Bolero. One of the buses met with a mishap as it skidded off the National Highway 6 at Umtyrra.<\/p>\n<p>The video was shared with false narratives last year as well. For instance, BSF officers killed in an accident or Indian soldiers killed in Pakistan. These were debunked by <a href=\"https:\/\/factly.in\/no-bsf-jawan-has-died-in-meghalayas-bus-accident-injured-jawans-are-receiving-treatment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Factly<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/bangaloremirror.indiatimes.com\/news\/india\/fake-alert-video-of-bus-accident-in-meghalaya-shared-as-indian-soldiers-killed-by-pakistan-army\/articleshow\/71940948.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Times Fact Check<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2019, Factly wrote an email to BSF Meghalaya for clarification. Randhir Ranjan (2IC \u2013 Operations, Ftr HQ BSF Meghalaya) responded, &#8220;There was <strong>no casualty of any BSF jawan<\/strong> in the bus accident. However, 01 helper of the civil bus, which was carrying the BSF jawan, died in that accident. <strong>All jawans who sustained injuries during the accident are safe<\/strong> and undergoing treatment at various hospitals.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-69519 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/06\/Screenshot-2020-06-21-at-14.50.14.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"532\" height=\"597\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/06\/Screenshot-2020-06-21-at-14.50.14.png 532w, https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2020\/06\/Screenshot-2020-06-21-at-14.50.14-267x300.png 267w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 532px) 100vw, 532px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The video therefore shows BSF jawans who were injured in a road accident in Meghalaya last year. The claim that they died in the recent India-China skirmish is false. The dispute has given rise to a lot of misinformation on social media with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/2015-image-of-martyred-nigerian-soldiers-viral-as-a-picture-from-indian-army-in-ladakh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">old images<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/video-traced-back-to-2014-shared-as-recent-clash-between-indian-and-chinese-soldiers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">videos<\/a> being liked to the border tensions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Several social media users have shared a one-minute video of injured Indian soldiers lying on the ground.
