A video of Sikh man criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi on how Sikh men have been branded ‘Khalistanis’ for participating in the farmers’ protest has created quite a stir online.<\/p>\n

Navbharat Times<\/a> (archived link<\/a>) reported that the man in the viral video is a Punjabi singer and actor Goldy Manepuria who is posing as an Indian army man.<\/p>\n

In the opening 30-seconds of the video, Manepuria can be heard saying, “Prime Minister Narendra Modiji, I want to tell you one thing, a few days ago when I wore the uniform [points at the jacket] at China border, I was a patriot. But when I removed this uniform and stood at the Delhi border, I became a traitor, a terrorist and a Khalistani. Your Godi media [mainstream media] has used these names while addressing me. I would like to give a suggestion to you, call any CO [commanding officer] of Sikh regiment and check how the morale of the troops has been affected since the farmers’ protest began. They will let you know. If there is unrest back home, no trooper can focus on his duty wholeheartedly…” The video, shared by @India_Resists, was also quote-tweeted by Bollywood actor Swara Bhaskar<\/a>. He is Goldy Manepuria, punjabi singer and actor. Whatever he said in video is completly false. His album BPL Card was launched in 2016. Also he is an Aapiya. Manepuria is a former army officer<\/h4>\n

The viral video was indeed uploaded by Instagram user Goldy Manepuria<\/a> on December 28.<\/p>\n

Alt News spoke with Manepuria who informed, “My official name is Manjinder Singh. Goldy Manepuria is my nickname. Both the images in Navbhart Times article are of me.”<\/p>\n

The second image is from the YouTube<\/a> thumbnail of his song Neat Peg. It was uploaded on August 2020 and has less than 200 views. “I’m not a full-time singer. It’s just a passion project,” he further added.<\/p>\n
