Alt News had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altnews.in\/english-clone-2026\/hindi\/fact-check-did-former-pm-manmohan-singh-get-invitation-of-joe-biden-oath-ceremony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">found that the claim is false<\/a>. According to a San Diego Union Tribune story, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegouniontribune.com\/sdut-obama-inauguration-foreign-011209-2009jan12-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no foreign leader had been invited<\/a> for Barack Obama&#8217;s oath-taking ceremony in 2009. The report quoted official sources who said that foreign leaders are not usually called for the event due to security concerns and the presence of large crowds. However, the ambassadors of other nations are invited.<\/p>\n<p>A subsequent <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=us%20inaugration%20india%20&amp;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">keyword search<\/a> on Twitter led us to a tweet by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PBNS_India\/status\/1351932379787481093\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Prasar Bharati News Service<\/a> on January 20, 2021. It stated that Indian ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu was in attendance at the inauguration. He also tweeted about this himself.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Pleasure to attend the historic ceremony ! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/TweqATUBJV\">https:\/\/t.co\/TweqATUBJV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Taranjit Singh Sandhu (@SandhuTaranjitS) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SandhuTaranjitS\/status\/1351917792065413121?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 20, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Apart from India, Ambassadors of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/asadmk17\/status\/1351906460956024832\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pakistan<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bikhim\/status\/1351908913592082433\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Taiwan<\/a>\u00a0were also invited.<\/p>\n<p>The Joint Committee on Inaugural Ceremony (JCCIC), responsible for organizing the function, had issued <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inaugural.senate.gov\/press_release\/jccic-announces-attendance-guidelines-for-59th-inaugural-ceremonies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">special guidelines<\/a> in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the JCCIC, Congress members were allowed to bring only one guest with them this year. The Committee had also appealed to the American public to watch the inauguration from home.<\/p>\n<p>The false claim that India was invited to Joe Biden&#8217;s inauguration was viral when, in fact, most foreign leaders are not invited to the ceremony.
