The former chairman of Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board Wasim Rizvi recently filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking removal of 26 verses from the Quran<\/a> which according to him are “controversial” and “teach violence”. The move invited flak from Muslims of both Shia and Sunni communities. Hundreds of people gathered in front of Delhi’s Jama Masjid<\/a> on March 19 to protest against Rizvi’s petition and termed him ‘anti-Muslim’.<\/p>\n

A week after this incident, a video was made viral on social media which shows a man being rescued by the police from a mob. The man’s clothes are torn and the police are taking him to a safe place in a half-naked state.<\/p>\n

Several people shared<\/a> the video claiming that Rizvi was thrashed.<\/p>\n
