Multiple other media outlets \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/india\/bodies-covid-19-victims-among-those-dumped-indias-ganges-govt-document-2021-05-15\/\">Reuters<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hindustantimes.com\/india-news\/more-shallow-graves-found-on-ganga-bank-101621025406319.html\">\u00a0Hindustan Times<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/india\/story\/uttar-pradesh-prayagraj-ganga-river-bank-dead-bodies-buried-sand-1806086-2021-05-24\">India Today<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eZDLxvtIpUQ\">Mojo Story<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-asia-india-57154564\">BBC<\/a> \u2013 have reported about the river swollen with corpses.<\/p>\n<p>Alt News spoke with Dainik Bhasker reporter Aditya Tiwari, one of the correspondents who broke the story. &#8220;In our report, we covered an area of 1140 km and counted over 2,000 dead bodies. His response will be added to the report if and when he gets back to us.<\/p>\n<h4>WHO WAS THE FIRST TO POST THE FALSE CLAIM?<\/h4>\n<p>Several people have shared the screenshot of the claim tweeted by one Sanatani Thakur who has since taken down her post. We found that many individuals questioned her about the source of the information.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Unbelievable!!<br \/>\nCan you please share the source<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sriram (@ScientistMughal) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ScientistMughal\/status\/1395976524080193536?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 22, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Using social media monitoring tool CrowdTangle, we found that all posts carrying the screenshot of Thakur&#8217;s tweet were made on Facebook after 11:01 am on May 22.
